Hold on a dang second, masks will not protect unless you have an N95 fitted mask. Regular masks you see these Asians wearing doesn't help at all. So keep the beard and chill, this thing is way overplayed on the national news. Yes it can kill you at 2% rate. The flu has taken out a considerable amount of folks this year, close to 1 million cases here and 15,000 deaths.
So flu has a 1.5% mortality rate

I haven't told my wife to order razors just yet. I have had a beard for 5 or 6 years now, with the exception of rocking a mustache for a week or two every fall for a special hunting trip. Hey dont judge. I figure when a man goes west for a deer or antelope hunt, you best have a mustache to fit in with the locals.

One way to spot a firefighter is absence of a free flowing beard. You cannot wear SCBA ( Self Contained Breathing Apparatus) aka SCOTT air pack with a beard unless it is very small to fit under the face shield.
You have to maintain this if you wish to remain a firefighter throughout your career.

Some time in the 70s I think, the Navy and Coast Guard banned beards because breathing apparatus used during shipboard fires would not seal against the face. Still the rule.

Wearing a cloth mask to stop a virus is like trying to keep dust from blowing through a chain link fence. Viruses are orders of magnitude smaller than human cells.

This is another one of the very subtle constant bombardments that especially white males are subjected to to try to tear down the order of the traditional family unit so the country can be reshaped in a more “equal and diverse” way. It’s all around us. The white male is ALWAYS the dumbest one on commercials or the burglar in ADT commercials.

After I thought about this, i realized there must not be any democratics on the CDC. If there was, it would have been gender neutral and not the word "men". Infact I have seen a few women that could grow facial hair better than most Asian men.

It has been said that beards can harbor nasty viruses and bacteria. That's why the military frowns on facial hair. Now with this new virus world-wide people might want to practice better hygiene and shave.

I haven’t shaved since since 1980. I like my beard and will be keeping it. So many studies have been wrong before. Butter was bad margarine was good,eggs,salt, mini ice age etc.

Last time I cut off my beard my daughter was 2 years old. She had never seen me without a beard. I came out of the bath room without a beard. She started screaming! Who was that strange man? I grew it back from that day and never cut it off since. That daughter is now 44. I'd cut if off again, but I don't want to scare her or anybody else for that matter.

What gets me is people nowadays don't think a man is worth his salt unless he has some type of beard. They serve no purpose other than hide portions of the face that might have scars, moles, birthmarks, or pimples. But the main thing is trying to look cool. The same goes for dumb looking tattoos.
