Guess cat offers

Guess cat offers - 02/28/20 05:38 PM

I took this cat to 2 local buyers and ended up keeping it. Very nice cat, nice back, good belly..just gets a little narrow. Nice sized female, not a titted female. Ill hold on to it and hope the prices come back up! One offer was on the carcass, one was after put-up. I know it's just a chunk of fur, but I always get attachment and feel like they're worth more than they are grin

I guess you were offered $45 on the carcass and $70 put up. Certainly most years would have had that cat well over $100.

Anything south of 100 would not only send me out the door but I'd also make it a point of pride to make the next 3 or 4 sales somewhere else. Call me a jerk but that's actually a compliment for a horse trader LOL

My guess is $60 either way. That may seem strange but the buyer here pays the same as he saves the meat, skull, glands, claws, etc. so he pays the same price.

Well you fellers are about spot on, but the pricing is kinda backwards in my mind . Offered $85 on the carcass about the 1st if January, then only offered $60 yesterday put-up. Like I said, I dont know what I'll do with it but I just cant let it go for that! Not when coyotes are bringing way more. Just dont seem right!

Cats have taken a terrible skid the last 30 days. Short off color cats have not been in demand for a while. Might as well put it in the freezer with a tag that says "Open in 2022" and see where things are.

I'd get it tanned that's a nice cat and not a great price.

Re: Guess cat offers - 02/28/20 07:13 PM

You could probably have it tanned professionally at Moyles for a $25 investment and then with a cities tag sell it online for $350. Rug it out and ask 500 but take 450.

Now all you nay sayers can dog pile me but I have done it even if nobody will pay 500 getting low balled at $400 minus $100 worth of added value is 3 or 4 times the current offer. The problem is you can find one or 2 buyers in a yr and not 40 of them unfortunately

It looked better when I had it parted down the middle and had all the white combed over to look like a nice 5 inch wide white belly...but then static took over and called my bluff laugh

Seriously though, Its a tough row to hoe.

None of those types sold last year. The demise of nafa has flooded the mkt with thousands of similar types. Any money spent on those is basically dead money. With no return on that money to be seen anywhere on the horizon.

Any end user that wants that type can find all he needs with a phone call. And yet, the market is flooded with them.

In cat trappers heaven it will always be 2013
