So I'm bored

Got home from checking rat traps and with nothing to do I came up with this Idea.

We have a lot of dog walkers that come by my house so I got out a bunch of old lures and made 5 scent stations along my side walk. Let the games begin. LOL

Better yet to make some rub scent post stations. That would be real funny. Find some old pieces of carpet, cut out some small squares and tack them to something handy. Tree or exposed root or zip tie to paper or mail boxes.

hey Beav if you want you can come down and clean and organize my garage , I am stuck working

I will throw a few hams steaks and a roll of Charmin in on the deal.

Id think for extra fun you could put a healthy dose of skunk and vaseline out there to really get a good roll reflex going. lol

My truck sits outside. The dogs going on walks down our dead end street always try to sniff around the driveway and truck. Don't know why?? LOL

So far It's been a bad dog day. Only 2 dogs came by they all went crazy over the 4 lures. The Lennons rat all call had both dogs shoulder rubbing. The fish oil didn't even have them breaking stride.

That's cool you're having fun with the dogs but you also gave me a great idea for so many out of school kids to make a few bucks. With so many old people scared to leave their house these days, a kid could make a 'dog walking' ad up on Facebook offering to walk dogs for a couple bucks a pop. I know I'd do it if I was a teen.

I like the Vaseline added idea for the stick and roll move.

I like Bobs Idea of using the carpet patches and I have some bamboo sections Wolf dog sent me so I might set up some lured bamboo sections. It's time to get a bit creative.

Put some good trout oil out Beav. with a couple drops of skunk in it. That oil doesn't come off very easily from hair and fur.

So far It's a learning experience. Some dogs just blow by all 5 scent stations. Some will have the owners putting everything they got to pull their dog away from the lured spot. So I'm betting that It's the same with wild critters. Some will show no interest at all In a lure while others will be interested. Of coarse these dogs are on leashes so maybe It's not a fair test as how or when they will react to a lure.

Don't ask me what I'm using because 4 out of the 5 lures have no labels on the bottles. The Lennons rat lure seems to get a lot of attention.

If your talking about wind direction that's not the issue since this lure In 2" from the edge of the side walk and the dogs are right on top of It as they pass.

Monday I will start over with some new lures and some new lure holders.

One dog dropped a load and then did his kick back. No dog that I know of has lifted It's leg at any of the locations.

Was the fish oil pressed or sun rendered??

It was some kind of commercial stuff so I'm sure It was pressed. It's not all that strong smelling.

Ya, ya. That's all fine.



Now get to the skunk part!!

The dog responses to the various Lure isn't surprising. I wonder how some heavy castor based scents would work.
