Harbor Freight 80v chainsaw

Anyone tried this Atlas brand chainsaw? I watched a video on it and it sounded good through the whole cut, didnt bog down. Price doesnt seem too bad. I dont need anything huge, so it would be tough to justify a $450 plus Stihl. Im not sure how long these 80v batteries have been out, but curious if anyone has had one for a while and how long they last. Im still not completely sold on a battery powered chainsaw, but this one impressed me in the videos. The dewalt did not.

If you're pruning the cherry tree and not leaving the yard, go for it. If you're cutting firewood, buy a saw with an engine on it.

I read somw reviews on the “homeowner” series of saws in That price range. Some of them were very critical of the power. What i saw seemed to jump from those to the Farm Boss”, which i think was a minimum of 400 bucks. Does stihl run a sale a couple times a year? If the battery powered saw performed as in the video, i would have no problem. But, that was fresh charge out of the box. Curious what several cycles of the battery dis to it if anyone had one and knew.

No he said a Stihl was 450.00. I said you can get one for half that for the smaller size he was talking about. Read what he wrote.

He's asking about battery powered saws. Looks like the cheapest Stihl is $300. Doesn't sound like he wants a gas saw.

If the battery powered Stihl is only $225 compared to the Harbor Freight saw at $190 you gotta go with the Stihl.

THEN ya gotta buy the gas powered generator to take to the field with ya so you can charge the saw when the batt'ry goes dead. Like the lektrik cars.
I've seen the batt'ry powered Stihls here for aboat $400. I bought a Stihl 250 for $300 that is an awesome little saw.

I have a husqvarna battery powered chainsaw and I love it. No need to carry gas, etc. it will cut a lot with one battery charge. I cut up an entire large ash tree with it and the battery died right at the end. It's perfect for doing stuff around the yard, but I also carry it on my 4-wheeler and in the truck any time I'm in the bush to cut trees that fell across the trail etc. I'm really surprised at how much power it has. The key is to keep the chain sharp.

I have the Milwaukee. I really like it. I keep it on the Dozer when doing fence rows and such, I use it for cutting bait trails, cutting up deer carcasses, cutting small loads of wood for cabin. I use vegetable oil for chain, cuts down on smell and the oil mess. Keep it in the truck cab, no smell. Battery last about the same as a tank of gas on a regular saw. Spare batteries are expensive, 200.00 plus

That's good to hear! I have a load of cordless power tools that do well on a 20V batt'ry but I always wondered myself how long a chainsaw would last.

The Stihl 250 is one heck of a saw that is very well under rated.......i know of several commercial users that use this little saw. When I buy a saw I want it to cut and have the power to cut through what I put it against.

How many cords of wood will a battery powered saw cut? How long per charge and how many charges will the battery take. I am not against them, they just have not been around long enough for me to buy one.........

A neighbors wife cuts hair in town 3 days a week and tends cattle all other days (oh yeah, she is a keeper). She always had trouble starting his chainsaws so he bought her an cordless electric for Christmas last year as much of a joke is anything.

Anyway, it's a Stihl and it is surprisingly good. You wouldn't cut firewood with it, but for edging new runs or wooden plank fence on the branding trap we have been using it is super nice. I would check pricing before you buy harbor freight quality b/c you might be able to get a nice one for a few dollars less.

Dewalt 60V is 250$ but the chain leaves a lot to be desired. Very lightweight.

What's the lowest a Stihl battery saw costs? I'm always hearing about them on Cal's Week in Review, one of the MeatEater podcasts. He says they run long and are lightweight. Of course you can't talk bad about your sponsors.

Does Husqvarna make one? I'm partial to Husky saws.

Dewalt saw comes with a battery and charger. A 2nd battery would be nice but I'm sure they are pricey. Yes, Husky makes one. Bernie B. said he has one and likes it. Dewalt reviews say it runs as long as a tank of gas but I simply can't believe that. I have a Husky 455 Rancher that has been real good to me but it gets heavy eventually. I have a Stihl MS250 that I really like a lot.
