I didn't realize you ate meat. I thought you subsisted on a diet of crepes and re-runs of the Bachelor.

Thanks Sharon! It’s nice to be able to pick the lamb of my choice on the hoof and take it home and do all the butchering myself. Cheaper, fresher, and I’m sure all around healthier.

nice work, but south of the mason Dixon line it is ILLEGAL to put broccoli on a grill lol, you can eat it but you CANT grill it

Re: Chef Jurassic Park In The House! - 03/27/20 01:55 AM

It sure is just that, JP.

There are lots of 4H kids and other ranchers who sell lamb here in this vast western state...all I need to do is find who sells and or butchers lamb and I'll have my in.

I really love lamb and there's great side dishes to go with it .

Someday , I will have the luxury of enjoying Big Horn wild sheep ....one of my wish list entries grin

Lol that Big Horn sheep will probably be the most expensive sheep you’ll eat! You’ll savour every single bite I’m sure! Lol.

4H clubs here too. Usually local business people will buy their animals for a really high price to support the kids. Some will have it butchered for themselves and some will give it away to others. Pretty nice!

I don't get upset too often. I also don't join clubs that aren't trapping or hunting related.

You know it. That meal looks great, I haven't had lamb in quite a while. How many pounds of meat would you get off of a market lamb?
Posted By: Jurassic Park

Re: Chef Jurassic Park In The House! - 03/27/20 02:34 AM

I’m not sure how many pounds of meat I get off the lamb. The lambs I buy have been around 85lbs live weight and sell to the market for about $180CAD

I buy them alive for $120CAD, but I have to butcher and not sell it. The farmer would never sell me a lamb for $120 if he knew I was selling them on the side for a quick $60.
I buy 1 each Spring.

I’ve never tried it before. I cook the lamb very simple. Let it sit in oil, garlic, pepper, and rosemary. Couldn’t find fresh rosemary yesterday, so I had to use dried.
Sometimes I just put salt and pepper on it.
