How many out of work??

How many out of work?? - 03/28/20 04:59 PM

One of the evil giant hospitals around my wife works for will be sending her entire unit home unpaid in two weeks. They are now back up as other people get sick, if that happens, in other parts of the hospital they arent trained for. The giant hospital sent out a deal saying every worker will get $300 bucks one time payment to help offset the lay off. I told her to shove it back in the billionaires pocket and dont accept that insult. Anyone else losing an income?

If we don't get the economy back up soon that story is going to be all too common.

Checked the Michigan UIA up till now companies have been telling workers to stay home unpaid or use vacation pay With the bailout signing displaced workers can file for benefits which they should have been able to before except for resistance from employers Anytime anyone is sent home from work FOR NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN sign up for unemployment benefits that determination discloses the facts reguarding your dismissal or request to stay home at your expense which favors you

I work for a city Board of Public Works. I'll have a job thru this mess no matter what happens, least I get sick my self. Also just got a nuisance job from a local cemetery to get rid of a pesky badger or two who want to make the place look like a bombed out wasteland.

Still working and a 20% pay raise to do it...also have the option of 4 weeks off with pay if needed. I just wasn’t raised that way.
The 4 week option came out first, then when it seemed “everyone” qualified they came out with the 20% raise. I’ve been working and will continue until I can’t...especially after the stock market crash!!!

Still working. I have a forty mile commute each way and it's almost eerie the lack of traffic on the roads.

You're not going to find any Farmers or Ranchers or their help that won't still be working when we need to. Other than that, I'm definitely losing money up at FHA due to no fault of their own

S. I cant stand that place. Both as a patient and watching the decisions made as the spouse of an employee. I hear very little negative regarding A.

I got laid off last week and my wife who works as a nurse in the clinic's electrophysiology department had her hours cut since they're seeing so few patients. My severance is being paid out over the next 3 pay days, so I doubt I'll qualify for any unemployment until May. And I hope to be working a new job by then anyway.

Re: How many out of work?? - 03/28/20 09:35 PM

DWC- Interesting. The local tv media which is in that's system's pocket didn't report on being the back-up to potential to the front lines, just reported the "bonus". I take it your wife probably works in "elective surgery" type of a department. My wife has been on short-term disability from there so haven't heard all of those behind-the scenes things going on. I'm sure her unit would probably be pulled in as back-up if its gets bad here but then again, people were still propagating 9 months ago so some one still needs to take care of those folks. Yeah, we'll see if any Armed Forces temporary field hospitals get set up here. Hope it doesn't gets to that level...

P.S. A is not too far behind S when it comes to their bottom line, they're just a bit less aggressive, in-your-face to ther employees but to the public sugar sweet about it. Between the two of them, they write a more paychecks in this state than anyone else.

tiguy go file for unemployment. you were laid off due to Covid and they're not picky about paying. I don't agree with it and I wish I was laid off right now I'd make far more.

Even the non-elective is down significantly at least for the system I work for. Technically most of the departments are open other than the outpatient surgery department. Those nurses are doing the screenings to get into the buildings but still not enough for all of them to get their full hours. The departments that are still open are getting a lot of books read right now.

I'm still working. 12hrs today 16 the last 2 and probably tomorrow. I'm glad to be working an know I'm blessed with my great job, so feel guilty that I wish I could get layed off a few months.. I could get so much completed at the farm and we are having such nice weather to get it done. Greener grass on the other side of the fence and all.
But I sure could get my high tunnel put up and 1900' of water line ran for grazing, maybe even get a little fence in.

Can you call yourself the " homeowner " ?

Re: How many out of work?? - 03/28/20 11:31 PM

Probably could get away with it at one place but I'm waiting for the electricians to finish their rough-in and they ain't coming. And the inspection agency is shut down, I need a framing inspection as soon as the plumbing, electrical and mechanical rough-ins are done before I can proceed. They do all those inspections at one time. So...

The other two places the owners are running scared and don't want me there.

Out of work as commercial pilot. Receive monthly US Mil retirement check so we'll be fine. Definitely cutting expenses though. Statewide travel ban starts today. It will be tough for college student son to find job around here come summer. Company is putting together shopping service for bush communities so we should pick up a little business eventually operating freight only charters. Lean times but we'll be fine.
