Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/01/2007:59 PM
I think I heard on the morning news over 2000 first first responders in New York city are sick these are the ones that are going to save lives cops, emts, fireman. Glad Coumo took matters into hands when the feds were wondering what to do. Wyoming jumped on things early and closed schools, businesses non essential and even medical services. I think we are at about 100 cases and no deaths. Governor and health dept took some criticism but paying off so far. Finally broke down and went to the store 90 percent of folks wearing masks and some gloves. A lot of cowboy bandannas but better than nothing.

You are kidding right ? If not ROFLMAO
X 2.
All Cuomo's been doing is blaming Trump.
Andy Cuomo frittered away Federal monies earmarked for NYS emergency PPE and spending it on other non-essential projects and then screamed bloody murder when New York City ran out out respirators, masks, protective gowns.
He hesitated, and then froze, when it was time to lockdown NYC, and shutdown the subways, and then close all incoming & outgoing flights to control the spread of the virus in and out of New York City.
Guy should be in Jail for impersonating a Governor.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/01/2009:39 PM
When Trump was trying to close the borders comrade coumo was telling us not to worry, go to chinatown, etc, so taking things in his own hands because Trump "fumbled" is total nonsense...
Heres a state/city that was ACTUALLY attacked on 9/11, still has a bullseye on it, given many multiple of millions for future preparedness, including chemical/bio/dirty nuke attacks, and the city doesn't have enough masks, suits, ventilators etc. ???? and now it's Trump's fault for not sending enough supplies?, even though the feds sent everything requested by the Gov.?,
He should be ashamed of himself, along with the mayor of NYC for frittering the money away, and dropping the ball. The man is a typical NYC whining brat politician.

This sounds like a "libtard troll" guys, with that factoid!!!

Another thing about the job our Governors doing. It wasn’t until today that State Correctional officers could wear masks, thanks to their union, no thanks to Cuomo.

Apples and oranges comparison there. New York has the 4th highest population while Wyoming is the least populated state. Our Governor has been on the national news for what he has done and Trump has mentioned him at least a couple times in his pressers. I'm not saying what our governor is doing is 100% right but we don't have high numbers. At least not yet. He is now saying we will probably peak at the end of the month, first of May.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/02/2003:58 PM
Coumo's on TV saying the state is broke. What's he do with all our tax dollars and gambling monies? But, he looks like the next Democratic candidate for President.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/02/2005:18 PM
92,381 Confirmed Positive Cases in NYS as of 4/2/2020. 2,373 Dead so far.
Positive Cases in my Jefferson County went from 14 to 16 in the last two hours.
My Pharmacy in Pulaski, NY. Oswego County had one of their associates test positive for Covid-19 and has been interacting with customers since march 26th. I've been there twice since then to pickup meds, etc.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/02/2005:36 PM
We have 7 cases now in Cattaraugus County. My job is considered essential so I have to work, but for the most part it seems as everything here is business as usual except for bars and restaurants
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/02/2005:49 PM
Walleyed, aren't most of those cases in the citys though? I live on my little ten acres, and nothing abnormal here, unless I go to town, which I avoid at almost all costs!

Yes, for the most part.
None of the Counties contiguous to my county have more than 37 cases.
3 in Lewis County. 21 in Oswego County. 37 in St, Lawrence County.
All rural counties.
Problem being that people from New York City, Westchester County, Long Island counties are all fleeing the city as "virus refugees" and going to their 2nd or 3rd Homes in the Adirondacks, or Saint Lawrence River, Or Lake Ontario and dragging the virus north when they come where our infrastructure hospitals, and clinics can't handle the overflow of sickened people. Cuomo's trying to coerce Upstate hospitals into accepting virus sickened patients from NYC due to their Hospitals being overwhelmed.
Local people are now all wearing facemasks, latex gloves, and I've even seen people donning PPE gowns while they grocery shop, or post office, or gas stations.
We're going to get hit bad when some virus carrying Covid-19 migrant tourist from NYC. spreads the virus through our small towns as It will be very bad.

Conservation 101 the most crowded marsh will have the biggest loss numbers in a time of sickness. Not making fun of anything just pointing out the similarities of it.

Yep, I had that same thought yesterday... you name the sickness and the animal susceptible to it will die in any given area. It has been proven and studied by Dr. Paul Errington, with rat populations and you can usually follow the spread back to within feet of the source. I have seen the same with the over crowding of coon in an area. One gets distemper, everyone in that wooded area will get it within days if not a couple of weeks.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/03/2012:26 AM
I sure wish they would close down everything leaving New York. A town 10 miles away just jumped 8 cases in the last day. A busload of Jewish returning from their boarding schools in New York. Rules don't apply to them. Need to close their kosher meat packing plant.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2001:03 AM
New York City residents now know what happens when disease spreads much more rapidly because of population density. Be interesting to see where many of them migrate to.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2002:40 AM
I own a tree service and work mainly in western North Carolina in these rich retirement gated communities. While working in there Friday one of the security guards told us that there was two different people from New York that had tested positive that were down here in their summer homes. Pretty bad out of them I think. We now have 3 cases in my very rural area of northeast Tenn

I don’t think many will migrate anywhere, but many will look to purchase second homes and camps in rural areas less affected by this pandemic. I have a friend who owns a real estate company specializing in rural recreational and hunting land in northern NY State. He told me his phone is ringing off the hook.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2010:52 AM
18 confirmed, 8 recovered, 1 death in Washington Co. NY cidiots arriving daily to their summer infestation lake bungalows. Cuomo's moving out our ventilators, releasing prisoners and shipping the sick north, he belongs in prison.

But your friend will make the sales and he'll make stupid money doing it. He's a big part of the problem..selling off the rural land at inflated prices (with much higher taxes for everyone as a result)..a steady reshaping of the demographics of the North Country. Rural North Country folks replaced by Downstate urbanites with their city values

As far as my real estate friend being ,”part of the problem,” you could not be more wrong. He is only providing a service to rural north country landowners. No one but Albany is holding a gun to the heads of landowners making them subdivide and sell their land.

Obviously not unique to NY. We in this part of Northern WI saw a bunch of non-locals this weekend from downstate and Illinois. The few cases we do have up here all came from travelers. If it spreads up here our rural hospitals are too small to handle more than a handful of cases. People are really selfish.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2002:20 PM
Cuomo doesn't realize that he is Governor north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. The only time he thinks about upstate NY is when he wants something like shipping patients up here or stealing medical equipment. His refusal to Remington Arms because he is so anti gun is reason to remove him from office. On TV every day to get his ugly puss out there. We are supposed to be united in fighting this virus and he's pulling this kind of stuff.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2002:47 PM
I read that only 20% of people that go on a ventilator for any reason will survive. So if you dont get one,it most likely wouldn't do you any good anyway.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2003:15 PM
Fisher Man. I was the Town Supervisor of my town for 10 years and totally agree. But here is the reality. Look at the number of votes North and South of the NYS Thruway. We are another country and unfortunately treated as such.

I agree with you about Albany, but more than a few realtors aren't selling land to the local folks down the road or in the next town over...they're selling to people that live in NYC/Downstate, PA, NJ or MA...the ones that can barely control themselves because they can't believe they just 'stole' the land from some hick...inflated prices and taxes that are a drop in the bucket for them, but few locals can afford...Then these guys tell their city folk buddies and they buy 'cheap' land too...Or maybe your friend is one of those guys that buys 100 acres for a song from an old timer or a guy that is forced to move away because he can't afford the taxes..the realtor cuts a couple roads into the site, logs it off, subdivides it into 20 parcels, slaps a rough-cut camp on it, and then advertises a Slice of Heaven to some urbanite that thinks nothing of paying 5 to 10x the original cost, which bumps up the taxes and screws the local folks that are hanging on by a thread. Sorry, but if that's your friend's MO it's a big problem.

Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/06/2004:59 PM
Here we get them from the East buying everything. Like LLL said, capitalism. Folks here won't pay what they will. They'll sell their farm on the outskirts of Philly for millions and buy a nice one here for a fraction of that.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/11/2012:03 AM
Estimated population of the US: 330 million Estimated population of NY State: 20 million Looks like 99.9996% of New York State is so far escaping this so called pandemic. Read posts like this or watch any bit of news and one would think they are dropping like flies on the sidewalk.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/12/2008:14 PM
All this goes to show is how defunct New York is with policies to manage travel and most importantly medical infrastructure. Clearly the state has focused on growing its urban population without supporting it. Run by a moron who was screaming at the federal government for 30,000-40,0000 MORE ventilators when his state only needed ~5,000-6,000 at PEAK utilization. For those saying the curve isn’t flattening you clearly don’t know how to look at data. Flattening has to do with the new cases or new deaths per day as a proportion of the population, but when yo post a cumulative graph, yes, those only go up. Crazy.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/12/2009:31 PM
We should listen to Johnsd16. He’s a doctor who traps.
I don’t blame Cuomo for demanding ventilators, masks, hazmat suits and so on. When you’re up to your eyeballs in sick people, now is not the time to be complacent. The squeaky wheel gets the grease: you don’t squeak, you don’t get greased and yet your ERs are full, your medical staff is overwhelmed and nothing gets done to help the situation.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/12/2010:35 PM
The heck with Cuomo. Typical narcissist. Only concerned with himself and how much resources he can steal for his constituency to make him look good. Only concerned about his reelection. He really does not care about the whole of NYS , because if he did he would not use his powers to be to take by force if needed respirators from upstate NY. Upstate NY as a whole does not vote for him. NYC does. Typical tyrant , take away from those who do not vote for him to give their resources to those who do.

You should blame Cuomo.in 2015 he was told by the health commissioner ny had 2000 ventilators,,and should have at least 18,000 incase a bad flue epidemic ever broke out.He could have got them cheap back then, but wouldn't do it.

Walleyed, can’t help but point out on another thread, how you were calling another forum member “ignorant, “with the above post doesn’t look as though you have a firm grasp of the definition of “ignorant” either.
Just wonder what the moderators would have done had you substituted the N word instead of “ Polocks” ? Looks as though the moderators are asleep at the wheel as well. Sounds like racism to me, from you and the moderators !!!
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/13/2004:17 PM
LMAO, you all know I have the high ground here, tough to defend racist comments regardless if you are liberal or conservative, which I am neither. If you think it’s OK to use a derogatory term for Polish Americans then you are a racist..
Boco, you’d be fine with using a derogatory term for First Nation Canadians ? When I was in NFLD, some called the Mic Macs , Newfie N word. Your ok with that ? You think you are so clever, do you know where the term square heads came from ? I’ll bet not ?
Some here are now showing their true intelligence, no wonder the trapping culture is doomed. Didn’t expect this from all the good Christian posts on this site. Pretty lame.

Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/13/2005:21 PM
I dont use derogatory terms for anyone, thats why I corrected Walleyed. Squarehead comes from the shape of their head.It is not offensive to a normal squarehead. Snowflakes on the other hand get triggered from near anything. Some people call me a Mick cause I'm Irish-I kind of like that name. It comes from the fact that many Irish names start with the letters Mc.I dont find it offensive at all but there are snowflakes I suppose looking for any excuse to get offended nowadays. And black people are Negroes, the offensive N word is because southerners couldnt pronounce Negro properly. And I dont believe the N-word is as offensive as its made out to be-many negroes use it profusely themselves. It is just deemed offensive when politically expedient.

Hey Squash,
I'm 1/2 Polish myself on my mother's side. (plevinsky)
She was constantly cracking polish jokes when I was growing up, and always made fun of her heritage although she was very proud of her polish ancestry.
That's probably where I get "It" from.
If you are polish, and sensitive about it, I am sorry I offended you.
But me using the term polock doesn't make me ignorant IMO, It means I am insensitive toward (my) alleged racial bias, which is difficult for me to imagine considering I am 1/2 polish.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 04/13/2007:40 PM
I always knew "square Heads" as being Scandinavians. Certainly don't mean to be insulting. I'm 1/4 Mick, 1/4 French, 1/4 Pennsylvania Dutch, and 1/4 Heinz 57 varieties. Guess I don't qualify as a purebred.

The worst offenders of using the "N" word are those worst offended by it. Ever tried to listen to RAP "music"? Anyways, your explanation of the pronunciation explanation is only a bit part of the story. Every heard of Niger and Nigeria?

Point well taken.
Just pointing out through this daily tally that this is not the joke many on trapperman are making of It.
Please advise on what word/adjective I should use to describe the New York State citizens that have expired due to the Covid-19 virus, and still convey the very real but sobering statistics.
I have already lost some friends and associates who have succumbed to this virus or from complications brought on by virus in addition to underlying medical conditions.
If I contract this plague, I'm almost certainly NOT going to survive it so I take the whole situation very seriously.

In my County as of today, there are:
Confirmed Cases
2,127
Tested Cases
8,020
Total Deaths
115
I was going to go shopping at the Tops store yesterday, but the night before, they said on the news that they were closing the store down , to do a deep hospital cleaning in the store. An employee came down with Coronavirus , so they had to disinfect the whole store. Who knows what they did with all the fresh vegetables. Must have had to throw out a lot of fresh food.

Why is it that NYC has had so many cases and deaths compared to other large cities? Could being a sanctuary city have played a role Mr. Cuomo? He talks out of both sides of his mouth; one minute to forget politics and work in a bipartisan manner, yet in the next minute calling the blue state the affected ones and the red states getting the aide. He talks about reopening schools. How can you transport on school buses and maintain safe distancing? Why doesn't he wear a mask? With a face like that he needs an entire blanket!

As your state opens. Please everyone be conscience of one self. Do the right thing. We will all get thru this togather. The reason why the numbers are not high all over is everyone has been told to hunker down. I pray that everyone takes this serious. It is not pleasant watching someone gasping for air. Everyone of those deaths had a family. The next month will tell the story. Stay safe. Enjoy life

Lets hope those tested numbers increase to get a better Public Heath approach to this.( even the contact people around positives could not have been tested with these numbers)
12 percent of the state of New York is 2.4 million. 19,000 dead, if it continues like this the death rate will be less than 1 percent.
The UN has reported that the disruption in the global food supply and pending recession could quite possibly contribute to an additional 125 million people on the planet starving this year. That is above what they have originally estimated.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/03/2001:22 PM
I wonder why the numbers keep going up. New York City’s coronavirus death toll surged past the grim 10,000 benchmark on Tuesday after the city’s health department revised their counting process to include people who never tested positive for coronavirus but most likely died from it.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/03/2001:53 PM
NY is is probably the most corrupt state in the union though a case could be made for NJ. California isn't so much corrupt as just run by morons.
Whatever numbers NY state or city either one is tossing around, you can safely bet it is all a lie to siphon tax dollars into the pockets of the connected.

Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/10/2003:48 PM
Heard a doctor interviewed on WABC radio out of NYC on Friday. He said many of those that died in NYC could have been saved if they had not been put on a ventilator. He also said that the hospitals receive $1,300 from Medicare for each Covid-19 case they treat and $3,900 for each one that was put on a ventilator. He said that there was a lot of pressure being put on the doctors by the hospital administrators to ventilate people so the hospital received more $$$....Scary stuff!
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/10/2005:14 PM
In 2018, 306 people in NYS perished every day (.0055% of the population, annually),on average. I am betting the death rate for New York State isn't, notably, different in 2020.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/11/2007:39 PM
So NYS is finding about 28% of the test confirm positive for covid. Expand the positive covid rate to NYS population of about 19 million would give you about 5.3 million positives. From those there have been 21,640 fatalities. That is a fatality rate of just 0.4% of all the positive covid cases. Of course some of those current cases may still end up as fatalities which would increase that rate somewhat.

Keep it rolling for a few more days Walleyed. I hear Trump is about ready to give Dr Fauci the boot, and he may have his eye on you as his replacement.

If you live in the west, One might get the impression that nothing much was happening in New York State.
I was simply providing the NYS Department of Health statistics and leaving it to all the medical geniuses out west to interpret for yourselves what is, or isn't, going on in my state.
I can tell you I've now had four elderly friends/associates die from covid-19, and my entire family has had their lives & jobs disrupted from Governor Andrew Cuomo's massive shutdown of our state's economy.
I'm lucky in that I work for the state, so I have not lost my job (yet) but practically all of my friends who run small businesses have been devastated by the fallout from this virus fiasco.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2001:14 PM
Walleyed, How do you know your four friends died of covid? People have just been pointing out to you that your buddy cuomo is calling all deaths covid. In order to justify his communist agenda! Be careful carrying the water for him! Nuff said!
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2001:28 PM
Sure seems odd that in the bastion of socialism, New York, Chinese flu is killing everybody. Here in KS hospitals are empty and staff only working part time with many laid off, homeless in Kansas City are not dead, the incarcerated are not dead, and everywhere large numbers of people have been tested for antibodies the percent of positives is staggering. Very few ever even having symptoms. I trust my own eyes but the talking heads on tv? Not even a little bit

All had visited a Covid-19 hotspot (NJ) for a funeral, where it was later determined that Covid-19 confirmed positive persons had been present,
They returned home, became symptomatic, tested positive, were hospitalized, and died within a relatively short time.
They were two elderly (late 70's) couples, husband & wives.
All were smokers but in comparatively good health.
To say that ALL DEATHS in New York State are now being declared/attributed to Covid-19 is total B.S.
If someone dies wholly from another cause, but also tests positive for Covid-19, that may be occurring in SOME areas,
but to say that someone gets hit by a truck, smashed flat, and the coroner then labels it a covid-19 death without a covid-19 positive test, in all cases, in all deaths is pure bull poop, and patently dis-ingenuous.
I can tell you it is NOT happening in Republican held Strong-hold Counties in Upstate & Northern New York.

Fixed it for you, danny.
The greater part of New York State, is not NEW YORK CITY.
We have close to 20,000,000 Million people in NYS,
and almost 10,000,000 Million of them live in NEW YORK CITY.
Please don't paint rural, upstate New York with the same broad brush when you mention Socialism.
If 10,000,000 Million Democrats lived in Wichita, Kansas
I wouldn't brand you a Socialist just because you lived in Kansas.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2002:16 PM
Walleyd not joking around at all. I hope you kept your chronic conditions in check through this many have not. If I wanted to see New York’s death toll I’d look it up. Continual, daily updates are no better than the media. I hope you’re serious about putting a fork in it and I’m not talking about food.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2002:34 PM
NY state is a bastion of socialism. Just like the rest of the country it is a disease of citys. Just like CA most people in NY live in cities. I suspect I can drive around your state including NYC without a map or GPS easier than you walleyed. Poughkeepsie, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, doesn't really matter. Socialism is alive and well.
I did not intend for anyone to think there are not some very fine people in New York.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2002:37 PM
numbers game -look at the counties across the pa side of the line, then look at the ny st side of the line.bet it is 30-40 times higher on the ny st side than the pa side.
you know the internet check it out,i have to adjust the rabbit ears.

Another example of someone talking about something they know nothing about. Without a gps you would be like Dorothy talking to Toto

That's the difference between me and you Danny Boy,
You carry a map & GPS to navigate while in your truck when in NYS.
I've never had a GPS in my road vehicle, and never will.
Drove around Kansas without one, also.
So you're barking up the wrong tree.
NYC, Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, and Ithaca (Cornell U.) are all Liberal, Democratic hotspots but the rest of the State's land mass & population are Conservative-Republican.
Don't be prejudiced against all New York State Residents.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2003:17 PM
Steve D I am now semi retired. Dont know how many million miles I have driven in my life as an OTR truck driver. Probably 4 at least. Hauled many loads in and out of your state. Just do local stuff now and only when I want to.
Re: New York State Covid-19 update - 05/16/2003:21 PM

My representative in the NYS Assembly is a Republican. My representative in the NYS Senate is a Republican. My representative in the US Congress is Republican. People on this site need to realize New York is more than Albany and NYC!
