Wood Duck Boxes - 04/14/20 06:51 AM

So does anyone build and maintain wood duck boxes? I’m going to build four tomorrow and get them out there quickly.

I put three new ones out this spring. Have 4 total. The box I had out last year did real well. 20 eggs and at least 16 hatched.

We run about 100 wood duck boxes and 50 or so goose baskets. We get about 95% usage. We only put them over water, keeps the squirrels out of them.

make sure to put some 1/2" rat wire loosely INSIDE up to the hole to give the ducklings a foothold to help climb out.

Our sportsman club builds 50 wood duck houses and 50 bluebird houses each year. We pass them out to members and whatever's left over goes to the scouts in our area.
