SKS for 299 at classic firearms. - 04/15/20 04:38 PM

Seems classic firearms just got in a shipment of surplus chinese SKS rifles. Decent price, I havent seen them that cheap in a long time. Just in case anyone might be looking for one or something else to spend their stimulus check on. They are on sale right now.

I should have bought a shipping container of them when a standard model was $75 and the shorter paratrooper was $95.

Classic doesn't have a good rep on a lot of the gun forums. Seems their grading is optimistic to put it nicely, I wouldn't chance it personally.

Marlin you aren't the only one that has regretted not doing that.

I have one of the cheap ones from the Clinton era, bunch of us went together and bought a batch.

Might be time to sell it if that's what they're bringing now-a-days.

I got my early production blade bayonet in great condition for $90 if I remember right. Guess it was a good investment. Seems like at these prices you'd be better off buying a modern rifle.

Well at gun shows i see SKS going for 5-600 bucks and more these days depending on condition and make. They are what they are. They are fun to shoot though just plinking around. Sometimes you can find ammo for them pretty cheap. They might be good to have in the closet and I think the price is decent. Its good to have something that will shoot 7.62x39 and with these rifles you dont have to worry about buying spare mags and such. Ive had a couple over the years and regretted getting rid of them now. Might be the last time to buy one in the 300 dollar price range going forward. I also really enjoy collecting old military rifles though.

Yep, mine also has the blade bayonet, about the same price.

A couple guys got the triangle bayonet, is there any worth difference?

Yes, the blade ones are more prized but I don't know what the real price difference is. The early rifles also had the sling attachment point on the bottom of the butt stock before the moved it to the side. I sold a Yugo someone had carved stuff into the stock for $70. Regret getting rid of that one it was a pretty cool rifle.

We still haven't had enough of the Chinese stuff yet?

Thanks for the info.

I just glanced over at mine, it's sitting beside the front door, lol.
It has the sling mount on the bottom mid-way between the pistol grip and butt. I bought it mid to early 90's I remember.

If these were fresh off the press from china, i wouldnt even have posted this. But these are old and these specific ones come from a whole other countries supply house even though they were made in china about 50 years ago.

I dont like nazis either but i would buy the heck out of a german made ww2 mauser.

For decades all of the truest shooting rifles I was around were built on WW2 Mauser actions.
In hindsight I should have bought a few more of them and never let my little sweetheart. 275 Roberts go. 119 gr for deer and 80 grain for coyotes. It was a stone cold killer combo

They won't last, I've seen them as high as $800 at gun shows. I wish I never sold any of mine, only have 2 or 3 now.
