Rare for a snake to miss. Very lucky! (Or it was just a warning strike)

Those are some mean little SO...B’s! I’ll take Cottonmouths and Rattlesnakes over Copperheads any day! Glad he missed and your grandson didn’t take a hit.

Just talked to him on the video phone, he said it got about four inches from his face, he said it was a small one. So glad he didn't get hit, he was close to the ground looking at some ants

I am sure glad he is Ok.
My eye picks up rattlesnakes but the only copperheads I've ever seen I dang near stepped on so I don't like them one bit

Some interesting facts and additional information.
Rattlesnake Statistics
Approximately 8,000 people a year are bit by venomous snakes in the U.S. 9-15 victims die. (FDA)
25% of adult rattlesnake bites are dry, with no venom injected. (Brown, 1997)
Rattlesnakes can only strike a distance equal to 1/2 their own length

Darn near stepped on a prairie rattler one time. Don't remember leaving the ground, but I landed about six foot away from where I was when I first saw it..

Did you need a change in pants? Lol
Im so glad he wasn't hit, would it disfigure his face? Or kill him, hes a handsome lil devil

Re: Close call!! - 04/29/20 01:59 AM

I looked it up, rare to kill, but probably disfigurement, secondary infection, that would be bad on the face

Re: Close call!! - 04/29/20 02:04 AM

every rattlesnake or cottonmouth ive ever run across just wanted away from me as fast as possible. copperheads wont run and will bite just because you got close enough. and they are the most camouflaged critter ive ever seen. About 2 years ago i started remaking a coyote set that had a possum in it and about halfway through i noticed a 2 foot copperhead start moving just enough i could see him. He had been there the whole time and i never noticed. Im usually really good at spotting snakes. I think i landed on top of the truck.
