I got told at walmart

I got told at walmart - 05/14/20 11:38 AM

Stopped at Walmart yesterday morning to get water, pie and sub for lunch. I walked up to checkout and set my basket on the belt and stood back from it. The woman that was checking out kept giving me glares. She was on the other side of the cc machine when the clerk told her the total, She said she would not pay until I backed away some...….I said lord I apologize and backed up about 10 feet. I was more than 6 feet away from her to begin with.
When it was my turn to pay I asked the clerk if I was too close. She laughed said you wouldn't believe what they se on a shift.

It's just like everything else in this world right now. Got folks on both extremes, one that don't want anyone any where near them. Ones that think it's all hoax and walk right up on anyone and everyone.. Just the world we are in. No room for moderation in anything we do.
My son is meat cutter been working this whole time. Got all kinda of stories about dealing with people..Lots them just plain rude... He is going to need a vacation soon or think he will blow a valve..

We have really good health care here with two major hospitals.. We got shut down early so we haven't had many cases in our county. Has been only couple hospitalized and none died..Just to the north of us on MN side river they had a hot spot. Have had like 6 I think die there in a nursing home or assisted living??
Being I'm retired not much changed for me day to day.. I really don't know what to make of it all.. Is sure a mix of people don't give a rip and the ones that just rude you get near them. They need to just stay home..
Was a open the state Tea Party protest last Friday out along intersection form my house.. man was their some dandies in that bunch..
Think whole dang world needs to stop take a breath. People need to start worrying more about what their doing than what others are doing..

They tested the inmates and guards at our state pen in Lansing. Almost 800 people tested positive for antibodies.100% of prisoners and staff. Some got sick, some got bad sick and 4 prisoners died. I dont have any details on the 4 and their health issues but thats barely 1/2 a percent. Most of them did not even know they had the virus.

So far as I understand it, hepatitis and hiv are rampant in our penal system. I wonder if that 1/2 per cent death rate for exposed people is lower among the never been incarcerated or never been a drug addict population.

That's what most of the "hotspots" the media is blaring about. They test a prison that has 1,000 or so in it and then claim the WHOLE town or county is deathly sick. Heck how much more can you quarantine someone than locked in a prison !!!!
OR the most famous line is "cases have doubled or tripled in 3 days. " Yes because you tested more in those three days than you did all week scattered about.!!!! And the reason they tested them is because they know they are sick. Whats the point really other than running up the numbers. The people aren't going anywhere! Let's hear how many have died in those prisons from the virus. Here in Ky one prison had 450 cases and ZERO death's !!!!

Here in Ky it's not having enough test , it's having enough people show up at the testing sites !!!!

I was at price chopper this morning and I forgot to get brown sugar. So I headed back to the baking goods isle. Of course I was just entering the isle when a store District Manager asked me to observe the direction marks on the floor for customers safety. I said ok and asked him why he nor any of the employees are following the markers . I had just seen him go in and out of several isles in the wrong direction putting items back on the shelf. I said we are not sheep for the you to ride Hurd over but then you roam as you please. I asked if he would like to demonstrate how to follow the floor markings as he put my cart full of goods back? He apologized and said he should be setting a example and would try to do so from now on. He also offered me a discount on my groceries. I told him keep his discount. I said I am now going to walk down the next isle and come down the isle that you are in and will decide if I will purchase this cart of goods or give it to you to put back. Well I kept the groceries. He just struck me wrong and though he asked politely.

I can see the outdoors drive thru testing location at the local health dept from my front porch. They've been set up almost daily for past week and a half. I'd be stretching it to say I've seen 10 cars drive thru there in 10 days....

Same situation in MN. Once a month I have to go in for a blood draw since I take blood thinners. My appointment was 2:30. I had something else going and asked if I could come in at a different time. They said I could come in whenever I wanted. I got there and I was the only patient there. Normally there are 3 nurses drawing blood working there. There was only one. I found out each nurse works two days a week.

My wife and i had the same thing happen last weekend at Wal mart. Lady was checking out and yelled at my daughter to get back 6 feet. My wife a fine strutting hen proceeded to tell the lady she was 8-9 feet away and the lady started yelling at my wife because she didn't have a mask on. I didn't say a word. The lady first was critical of the kids then poked the bear. I didn't need to help at all. When she left the lady told us that little babies are dieing everywhere and god will be there to judge us. I am not sure where little babies are dieing everywhere and why we are to blame for it but my wife took it very personal as she always does.

Re: I got told at walmart - 05/14/20 06:33 PM

I stopped going to our local Walmart. They narrowed the traffic flow down to one enter door and one exit door. That funneled customers together instead of promoting social distancing.
The store was so full of people at the checkouts, they were almost bumping into each other. There had to have been about 30 people standing in line to use the self-checkouts.

Walmart was allowed to be open because they sell food. Then they should have cordoned off the rest of the store outside of the food. But, the smaller hardware, clothing, shoe, ect. stores were not allowed to be open. I know they wouldn't have been nearly as busy and much safer than Walmart.

Sweden is sort of a weird case. The Swedes mostly followed their government's social distancing and PPE recommendations, which allowed the disease to spread, but not so fast that the Healthcare industry was overwhelmed. Swedes have a high degree of trust in their government and are quick to follow government guidelines. The Somalis and many other immigrants, living in Sweden, didn't follow the guidelines and most of them got sick very, very quickly.

A friend of mine, who taught and did research at IU, who now teaches at another university, shared a study from IU on Covid-19 with me today. In Indiana 2.8% of the population has or had Covid-19. Blacks and Hispanics were infected at a "disproportionately high rate", which the study strongly hinted was due to their failure to follow social distancing and PPE guidelines.

We should open up, but people should still follow suggestions to not get sick. IU estimates that 70% of the population needs to get Covid-19 to have herd immunity.

A similar thing happened to me last week in a store. Woman was in front of me at checkout and was paying for her goods when I started unloading my cart on the conveyor counter. She said since I didn't have a mask on that I was too close to her. I stood straight up looking at her, showed my teeth and started growling
like a dog, low and then getting louder, she began getting wide-eyed while backing up and I got my breath and barked at her. She took off like a scalded ape and left one bag of groceries.
The clerk was about down on her knees laughing and said she would put her sack of stuff behind the counter but she would bet the woman wouldn't come back for it.

Got a serious hankering for a milkshake last night. So on my lunch break I drove over to Braum's and ordered one at the drive thru. Pulled up to the window to pay and the little gal who took my money had the headset on and was taking another order... She adjusted her mask, took my cash, adjusted her mask, dug my change out of the register, adjusted her mask, handed me my change and receipt, adjusted her mask, told me to have a good evening.

She was wearing glasses which I'm sure kept fogging up on her. Poor kid.

All of this crap is absolutely ridiculous. If you're worried, stay home.

I live pretty close to Philadelphia, I was born and raised there. Anyway I went out on Saturday because my wife needed some things. I’m retired so I usually go out on Tuesday or Wednesday, any hoo I went by Home Depot they had A line half way around the parking lot. Went by Lowe’s cause its the same mall, same deal. Went to wal-mart right next to Lowe’s and they had a cop standing where the line went into the store. They had 2 more cops in an suv right next to him. Different clientele?

Ran over the wifes lawn mower, so I had to go to the Farm and Fleet and pick up a new one. While checking out, the person in front at the check out was wearing a mask and had only a can of seafoam, the lady behind me also had on a mask and only had a small bottle of hand sanitizer. If those people wearing masks really thought there was a real danger, would they have risked their lives over a bottle of seafoam and a bottle of hand sanitizer? Or were they just so proud to be sheep they just had to go out in public?

Wasn't that long ago that a open carry firearm while wearing a mask caused all sorts of panic. Now, if you open carry and don't have a mask on, the panic is 10 fold.

perhaps.

but remember when this all first started...they ("experts") told us over and over that we didn't need masks. in fact (they said); that wearing masks could even make things WORSE for spreading the virus, because we are too stupid to wear them correctly, thus giving us a false sense of security, yada yada.

fast forward a couple weeks and it became MANDATORY to wear them while out and about.

why?

[I KNOW why...it's rhetorical.]

Covering your sneeze/cough with your hand or jacket is just as effectively as a surgical mask. With a mask, it still allows particles out the sides of the mask. So as long as your hands are free and you do what your trained as a a four year old to do. All the studies show that there's no evidence they do anything to prevent spreading or coming down with influenza either.

Plus you can clean your hands after a sneeze, with a mask, you'll need a new one or smell your own snot the rest of the day

One big problem with people just using their hands is that people constantly touch things with their hands.

The studies I posted do show that masks help lessen the chance of spreading Covid-19 and other similar ailments.

That's why you clean you hands and you clean your hands after picking up stuff someone else touched. it's common sense which is dieing at a much greater rate than even the worst panic pusher thought covid would kill. Take care of yourself first instead of relying on others to take care of yourself.

I'ts all panic pushing. Played golf with a lot of doctors and fellow hospital employees this weekend a nary a mask to be found. And the course is owned by an employee of the same hospital I work for. We even had our company golf league start last week. Again, no masks no masks to be found as we are all docs, nurses, manages, and other employees of the hospital.

Re: I got told at walmart - 05/18/20 06:15 PM

As the federal, state and local governments relax their regs or are ordered to relax their regs then the issue of how, when, etc. will fall on the businesses and the risks they are willing to take. With 70% of our economy service based that means that the companies need to have healthy and willing employees willing and able to work with people who have little real reason to enter the business if they don't feel that their safety is a key issue. Those firms that more quickly understand their customer concerns and issues will fair the best. The other thing is that we have not reached the point where money in the hands of consumers has reached their lower points and money available for non essential items will continue to drop for some time.
