Rebar stake

Who uses them.
what size do you like ex 1/2 x 18"
washer top?
Nut top?
T bar?

I use them water trapping and have 3/8 30 inch T bar. I double stake the top of the slide on beaver sets in case something goes haywire with the drowner. Singles would probably work, but I am a worry wart.

I use them for water sets too. Some have washer some t

1/2 X 18, 24 and 32 a few 36 for beaver dams. I cut the rod at twice the length then cut in the middle at a sharp angle to make the points on the ends. The other end gets ground into a hump that just fits into a hole in a washer and sticks up about 1/2 of a inch. This allows the washer to be welded on and your pounding on the rerod not the washer that way you don’t lose the washer.

you can just slide a 1/2 x 13 nut over 3/8 rebar the threads bite in when you beat the nut down , then because you are pounding directly on the bar to drive it the end also mushrooms over some

if you don't have a welder it is one of the lowest cost ways to make stakes.

If you are looking to build them to sell, there's no money in it unless you got a free source of rebar. No one wants to pay more than maybe $1.25 each.

We use 24"x3/8 rebar with a nut welded for DPs.

I prefer 3/8 rebar with a washer head welded on 1/4 inch below the top of the stake. Usually 18-24 inch stakes.

I went with smooth rod last year and I will never go back to re bar. 20" of 1/2 cold roll and double stake every thing. A washer welded on about 3/4" below the top of the stake.
Depending on soil conditions I will go to earth anchors and In some cases I will cross stake my earth anchors.

All depends on what you are attaching it too and what soil you are in.

Go either nut tops or T bars,( if chain wrap isn't a concern).

I have both from 18" to 4 feet...and use them all. Never make one size because one size never fits all.

Go 1/2"...3/8" bent too easily.

I prefer tbars for my usage. Problem is the tbars have s tendency to popoff.

Jamie did you ever find a good way to put a point on the rebar ?

if you like smooth , the bolts from big spools of wire are nice if you can get them free

the washer heads are already formed on the end

1/2 rebar X 24 with a nut welded on about an 1" down from the top so you aren't beating on the weld. They mushroom over time from impact.

T tops for water with a range of sizes - my longest are 4'. They are great at the end of a slide wire.

Check out my post above, the weld will not crack if done like described...The weld becomes the top of the stake with the added impact support of the nut, and it won't mushroom much either, the nut stops the mushroom effect.

Leaving rebar above the nut is a guaranteed mushroom, which does aid in keeping the nut on, but looks like h3ll, and it takes more excavating to hide the stake protrusion.

Just sharing my experiences, but you may not give a crap, Lol ... as always, YMMV.

Nope. Nothing simple and easy. Grinder is the only way short of forging a point.
