All crossbow courses cancelled - 05/19/20 08:53 PM

Called my last hope 3 1/2 hours away to no avail. All crossbow courses are closed to further notice. Most likely none this year. Then called maine inland fisheries and wildlife to see what to do this year. Was told my only option this year was to buy a apprenticeship crossbow license where even thru being 59 years old and passing the archery course I would have to hunt with someone who has passed the crossbow course. mad mad

Crazy bunch in Maine. I see their game warden show on T.V. Too many permits, etc!

I see their game warden show on T.V. Way too many wanting to site a ticket for somethings that are questionable at best.

The Crossbow course is structured to avoid incidental Lynx harvest.

You have to pass a test to hunt In Alaska with a cross bow.

How many years has the course been offered in the past for you to take it? Or is it restricted to age and this is your first year?

I’ll probably have to cancel Delaware’s IBEP course this year, but it isn’t mandatory.

First year offered due to first year allowed during archery season to use a crossbow.

Dang that sucks. They should do a waiver for this year since it isn’t in your power. Not your fault you couldn’t take it. Especially since you have passed the regular archery course.

Bruce can you take a online course from another state for crossbow and then maine would allow you to use one for hunting

No such thing down here, if you can nock it or shoot it, get your license and go hunt. What’s the test consist of? If you can load a bolt and point the right end downrange shouldn’t you pretty much be a go?

No wonder numbers are dwindling in the US. Some of the past few days post are just crazy to me...

An archery course before you can legally hunt.
A crossbow course before you can legally hunt.
An age limit before you can legally hunt.
Coyotes considered a game animal or furbearer, with a season.
And a freaking Frog season, lol.

I’m sure we have some crazy laws down here too, I just either don’t know them or neglected to learn them.

Oh ya, Nebraska has always had a frog season. And a possum is a furbearer with a season.

Us Yankees are such skilled hunters we would kill all of the frogs without a season & limits.

Dont get me started on frog seasons. In Wisconsin you're only allowed 5/day. 10 frog legs is barely an appetizer.
