my cousin sent me this pic,,,something got in her flower bed and ripped the snot out of it,,,,this is on a second floor balcony....no steps up to it,,,only accessible from a sliding door. i'm thinking squirriels,,,,,,,,,,,,,your guesses?

If it was my house, I'd be thinking it was a 5-year-old... But squirrels can be almost as destructive.

Coon.

Almost a guarantee. We fight the same thing here this time of year. Fresh dug dirt, and especially potting soil, are like magnets to some of them. I have no idea why, but it's a never ending battle.

Coon had the same problem a few years ago, I'm wondering if the fertilizer doesn't have fish smell to it, we called in 11 coons over the next few nights problem solved

That would be my bet. They tear the heck out of my mom'a flower beds using them as litter boxes.
