I've got some pickled ramps that have been in the fridge for a month or so now. Still waiting for the right time to open them up.

We are cut from the same cloth. That all looks great! I currently have pickled eggs/onions, carrots/bell peppers, homemade sauerkraut, pepperocinis and of course regular ol dill pickles.

We call it Independence Day down here and if it can go on the grill it gets eaten.

Do you cook your fish before pickling? Or is it best to pickle them raw? Would like to try that with crappie and maybe mudcats. Love me some fried crappie but looking for something different.

cornish miners food , pie crust around rhutabaga , turnips , potatoes , carrots and meat.

you make sure to make the crinkle edge wide so when your mining lead you eat the meal in a pastry shell holding it by the edge , so you ate less lead. also the crust was left for the Tommyknockers cornish elfs basically if you kept them fed they didn't cause mischief in the mine.

a proper cornish pasty could be wraped in a cloth and dropped to the bottom of a mine shaft if the man forgot his lunch ont he decent and it would not break apart.

they were tough

the cornish were the mining culture of wisconsin and Michigan and many uspers are a cornish , fin , sweede , norwegian combination but mostly Yuppers took over the pasty and changed it a bit to make it thier own.

they even have drive through Pastie places in Iron mountain.

Sometimes I eat pickled eggs a few days after I eat to much cheese or such. I try not to plan this around a national holiday.
