Mastercard Changes Name To Equalitycard

PURCHASE, NY—Popular multinational financial services company, Mastercard Incorporated, which is known for its extensive line of credit, debit, and prepaid cards to process payments between card-issuing banks and merchants, has released a statement that they will now be known as Equalitycard. This shift in branding follows other companies who have made major branding changes due to their negligence in propagating racial stereotypes in America like Aunt Jemima syrup, Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice, and Land O’Lakes Butter.

This massive change in branding awareness comes in the wake of protests pointing out how far we need to go in stamping out systemic racism, even if it is found in beloved food products. Financial products are now coming under fire as many consumers pointed out that the troubling phrase “Master” was in the name of Mastercard, leading many to think of a checkered past when slaveowners expected to be called “master.”

“Honestly, in 2020, there is no place in America for terms like 'master',” said Ajaypal "Ajay" Singh Banga, Equalitycard’s chief executive. “That is not an image we want to evoke when consumers engage in financial transactions that might place them massively in debt to us, through late fees and massive interest charges. Equalitycard will always promote the equality of cardholders of all races.”

At publishing time, several other popular American institutions and brands using the problematic word were facing criticism including MasterClass online classes, Masterpiece Theatre, all master's degrees, and Jedi Masters.

The sad thing is that it's totally believable that they will change the company name of Mastercard. There's truth in satire.

As I said earlier Visa will have to change its name to avoid offending illegal aliens.

The Houston Association of Realtors, commonly know as HAR, has made changes to its room descriptions on its online property database, replacing the term "master" with "primary."

Master bedroom and master bathroom will now say primary bedroom and primary bath.

"Some of these changes are simply good faith exercises to demonstrate awareness of historic improprieties or inequities," said Associate Prof. of Business at the University of Houston - Downtown Dietrich von Biedenfeld.

"Particularly in the south, we've had master slave culture. So, on a plantation, you would have a master of that domain who would then exercise control and dominance over enslaved or indentured servants, and so historically, to say that the master lives in a certain place, then it's sort of creates a tone that minorities are excluded."

The change comes after weeks of protests for racial equality and years of discussion about changing the terminology.

"The MLS Advisory Group regularly reviews the terms and fields used in the MLS to make sure they are consistent with the current market environment. The updates to primary bedroom and primary bath were among nine requests for review that were submitted by members and considered at the most recent meetings, including an option to show whether the property has an electric vehicle charging station and what direction the balcony faces for high rise listings," HARS wrote in a statement about the changes.

Ladonna Park, who is a member of HAR and President of the Houston Black Real Estate Association says the change is long overdue.

"I think it's more a sign of the times," she said "It's a sign that we are in the midst of change - what structural things can we do to make a difference?"

In a statement about the switch from 'master' to primary,' HAR wrote, "The topic has also been raised and considered for many years, so it was not a new suggestion to review the terminology. Many homebuilders stopped using the term "master bedroom" years ago. The overarching message was that some members were concerned about how the terms might be perceived by some other agents and consumers. The consensus was that primary describes the rooms equally as well as master while avoiding any possible misperceptions."

HAR also noted realtors won't be fined for using the word 'master' in their own marketing and that the change only applies to labels displayed on it online property listing database.

We've got only 300 miles of wall built, close to 3 trillion dollar addition to the national debt, with another couple trillion possibly being added, and have NO IDEA as to where the first 2.7 trillion went to.Virus cases spiking in Texas and Florida, after those Governors opened everything up. IMO, if the right allows their first amendment rights to be taken and sits idly by while the 2nd is eviscerated, everything else will be irrelevant, including financial meltdowns. Robust economic growth can cure a lot of ills, some factions seen pretty intent on preventing prosperity.

The left did a good job of dividing us this election cycle, a lot that I didn't think would/could be polarized are now disgusted with what's going on and are solidly on one side of the other.
