Seating options for Radison/Sportspal - 07/05/20 08:38 PM

I just picked up a 12’ Radisson canoe with no seats.
I plan to use it to putter around fishing.
Any seat suggestions?
Doesn’t have to be anything fancy

I'm in the same boat. I picked up one of these to try out.

What's your canoe look like? Here's mine.

Tiguy, yours is in much better condition. Mine is a Radisson, dark green. Same shape with one thwart.
Milk crate is a good idea, thanks

Place it in the middle and use a kayak double ended paddle I find it works better that way unless I have a heavy weight in the front to even it up a bit

You can get a seat that just hangs on the sides which is what I have but the milk crate idea sounds good as well

Heres an old beat up sportspal I leave stashed out on the trapline. It had this homemade seat on it when I got it.It is solid and quite comfortable despite the look.
Paid $40 for the canoe.
Works great for what I need it for,and doesnt leak.

I have the foam seat. Very comfortable. No idea what the price is but you can buy straight from the manufacturer. BW Marine is the maker of Raddison/Sportspals. http://www.bwmarineproducts.com/Foam%20Canoe%20Seat.htm

Went fishing the other day. The kids set on a bucket and milk crate. I got the foam seat.

FYI the foam seat sets low in the canoe, works great with oars, not so much with paddle

There should be some bow and arrow targets of rigid or hard foam or other materials that will fit in the canoe and be about the correct height. You can move it or them around and or install a back rest if desired. This larger piece will also straddle more than one of the ribs or you can fasten a 1 by 6 or 8 inch board on the bottom so you don't put too much pressure on the skin or hull of the canoe.
