John deer dozer tracks - 07/05/20 11:01 PM

I Abe a 450g dozer and my rear drive sprockets are getting pointed and I believe their prematurely wearing.

First how tight are the tracks suppose to be?

What causes wear on real drive sprockets

What else should I look for

I believe on track is too tight, how do I loosen

Open the greese fitting up and let some out ...

Let some grease out of the tensioner. Clean the undercarriage out with a small shovel or screwdriver. Good luck getting parts. John Deere has one lousy dealer in my neck of the woods.

You have to measure track sag. Very important to use the recommended spec. Cleaning the dirt pack out is critical. It will increase track tension.

Yep, when I work for an excavator we had to remove the dirt pack from the tracked machines at the end of each workday.
