Feed molasses for coon bait - 07/10/20 01:44 AM

There someone post on here. About catching lots beaver in coon sets with feed mollases, I use fish with some trapline supply bait, would feed mollases along mix with solid feed mollases. Be good in PVC pipe or even dps. ? Add-in pocket to fish or just solid an regular feed mollases ? Or does it get gel up stiff in cold weather ? Or would trapline supply bait be better ?

I use dry molasses in my home made bait mix for DPs. Never tried it in PVC water sets but do not see why it would not work. Coon are not particular.

Molasses work best in the fall, when it turns off cold then I would switch to something like fish that was louder. Then in real cold weather something like fish oil or as my mom used to say "thats just rotted fish", lol.

Also as it would get a little colder in the fall I would would add oil of anise to the molasses, unless I had dogs around, some dogs are attracted to it.

I like liquid molasses from Rural King. Do you have a Rural King nearby, Dave?

Rural King is a farm store that sells guns and stuff you probably would like. Reasonable prices from what little I know about them.

Give the neighborhood kids a reason to go fishing, Tell them you'll give the ten bucks apiece to catch you so many fish.

Or go fishing yourself? On a half decent pond/lake, you can catch a years worth of bait in a couple hours.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

I buy fish heads in fall, 4- 5 gallon buckets I bring stuff as full as get from fish markets, hope to get some this fall, $20 plus 170 Mike round trip drive. Lot cheaper gas go fishing, I try go fishing once week, but never get enough fish, that amount bait, with fish, may sound like lot, I don't do tons trapping, with not all that many pocket sets, I be lucky enough to make it last from mid Nov till early Jan., Then use some rat carcass. But spoils fast, I like fish much better, i also use lot trapline supply bait , don't know what mollases like, I have look it, I think there dry mollases to, no idea what like or kinda order throws out, maybe not good idea. An to messy an runny, ? Unless a grass was with big amount feed mollases on it, no idea what kinda order dry mollases give out, I have different kinds dp bait make. Most it just work good early , have pint of kattz black label bait, not want gallon, a gallon of good coon bait taste good worth it

Hard to justify spending any money for coons , with a $5 top for the best of the best. The way things are going, you probably can't give them away this year.
