Not familiar with them Bruce, we have the common yellow perch here of course which are excellent table fare. I looked them up and it seems they're not a true perch. How are they for eating?

Your white perch swim a bit different than our yellow perch.

Good catch tho.

White perch has a pretty big bloodline in it. Not as sweet as yellow perch but an average tasting fish.

We have lots of yellow perch and walleye here. Most people here treat white perch as a trash fish. I've used em forcoon bait but my buddy waits for the spring run and eats em by the bucket full. Everything is fun to catch. Some a little better eating than others..Nice catch Bruce

I enjoy white perch. I find them better than crappie due to them being more firm and flaky.

Bruce are they also called sheeps head ? I'm not familiar with white perch and don't fish much anymore except for small brookies. But remember my dad catching a fish he called sheeps head in a river we used to fish for cat fish at night.

We don’t have white perch so I’m extremely envious. New species of fish always excites me. Good job and congrats.

Don't mean to throw off the thread but may I ask how you used them in the garden?

Dad would burry a couple under each mound of squash and some underneath the corn rows.
