Italian 6.5x52 Carcano's for sale - 07/24/20 11:46 PM

you know that stocks are running low on guns when they are trying to sell these

I get the PSA email each day , they have been trying to pedal these things now for about 2 weeks

https://palmettostatearmory.com/surplus-carcano-m91-24-ts-6-5x52-rifle-used-surplus-condition.html

if you are not familiar with these , it is the rifle that Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK with.

are they serviceable guns , they can be

what they don't tell you and if you were thinking of dropping the 249.99 on one , you need to have the steel stripper clip this is the feed lips of the magazine it holds the ammo and unlike rifles where you only need it to quickly feed ammo into the gun and don't stay with the gun , the carcano the clip stays with the gun when the last round is loaded into the chamber it drops out the bottom of the gun where you usually step on it so buy more.

used to have one of these paid 45 dollars for it at a gun show then tried to find ammo for it and was paying a buck a round 25 years ago. it has been sold for years honestly I thing having all the brass and the a few clips is what sold it.

Actually the Oswald carbine was a 91/38 which is very similar. The carbines from Palmetto are shortened M91 rifles that had a gain twist rifling. By cutting them down, the fast twist at the end was removed and makes these particular carbines about worthless. These are coming out of Ethiopia and are historically relevant, but Pete is right-a stop gap rifle at best. The en-bloc clips were also made of brass.

Do you know why Johnson didn't go hunting after he became president?
Oswald didn't return his rifle.

the original magazines were brass the ones I had were steel and any I see sold now mostly out of stock at this time say steel.

your right about the short ones being about worthless I had the Calvary carbine also a cut down

the originals infantry length rifles had Gain Twist Rifling it started slow and got faster near the muzzle

not a bad idea get the bullet seated in the rifling then start spinning it faster and faster.
