I gave up my gear head ways. I had several GTO's and other assorted stuff, mostly Pontiacs.
Got tired of maintaining or trying to maintain older stuff without decent quality parts available.

Got tired of car shows, swap meets and having other gearheads either tell me about what was wrong with my cars or how they used to have one just like it but with some features that never existed.
crazy

Don't miss it at all.

Power Wagon question: I seem to remember an old model with a PTO wench. Am I correct?

Not a gearhead. 72 XLCH back before customs came out of a box. The guy that painted it was a perfectionist and when the paint job was amazing. I could only afford the tank. The next year he painted the fender and they matched perfectly. In my humble opinion a sportsters is the best sounding bike that has ever been manufactured.

Nice ride , ApocalypticGoatH

Those old skool customs are way better than new stuff that comes out of a box.

Learned to drive in a '67 Dodge RT 440 Mag. Then I bought a stock '51 Ford Victoria. Went from the '67 RT to a '69 Super Bee SixPack. I think I still hole the speed record on Main St. in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Unfortunately I don't any digital pictures of any of them. I did find a picture of a '51 Ford Victoria with the same paint pattern, only mine had two spotlights whcih I had some real fun with. [Linked Image]

Cool , '67 RT and a '69 Bee with a 6 pack.....really nice cars.
laugh

Extra awesome holding a local record of sorts. A friend of mine (now deceased) holds the record for White st here (25mph limit)
Doing 120mph with 2 witnesses (one in car) with a late 60s' T-bird. That record may stand for a long time or forever , White st is now so congested even late at night to make a run like that nearly impossible.

We don’t have any fancy cars but we do have a place for when they aren’t feeling well.

Re: The Gearhead thread - 08/02/20 03:50 PM

My ride I built up 2 years ago. Bought on line from Connecticut. 1979 Chevy Caprice Aero Coupe.
Stock it was a 305 V8, 3 speed automatic w/2.76 gears (a dog).
[Linked Image]

Then I proceeded to build it. Replaced the rearend with an 8.5 posi. w/3.73 gears. All new hub to hub.

Replaced the engine w/headers and dual exhaust. It was a 350 stroked to 383 w/aluminum Corvette heads.
[Linked Image]

Purchase a 700R4 transmission and installed a special crossmember. New HD driveshaft.

It still needs work (as usual). But as always a project in the works.

1989 F150 4x4 with a 3.9 Cummins 4 cylinder diesel. Slow and sounds like a tractor but I average 26 mpg, been on a couple road trips to New England and back, never a hiccup. I rolled and tipped Kirby marine paint on her three years ago, due for a fresh coat.
