Dodge City - 08/02/20 10:47 PM

Baught a half ton 4x4 short bed dodge with 318 motor,to trap out of last year. 1986 model with bunch of miles. The A-C unit blows cold but the flapper keeps closing in the fan housing that directs the air. Can hear it opening and closing. Noticed today that it wants to close when I give it more gas, like going up a hill. Is that flapper vacuum controlled and are the old vacuum lines collapseing or is there a valve that is messed up? First dodge I've owned so l don't know the problems with them.

My wife's SUV did the exact same thing. Look for a loose/broken/cracked vacuum tube on the same manifold as the door. Idle it and maybe you can hear a hiss. Good luck.

Sounds like it is vacuum, it can be lines, a check valve, or the actuator.

It was used too much when it was new.

I believe it’s vacuum, I would check the actuator first.

Is the actuator under the hood or under the dash BBarnes? Truck came from your country.

Should be under the dash close to the heater core area.
