Brother took his own life.

My little brother struggled with mental illness for years. Sadly last week he pulled over on the freeway, walked out into the tall grass lay down and shot himself. My heart is so heavy. I didnt know how to help him. All my prayers for him went unanswered. RIP little brother the pain is gone now.

Sorry to hear that. I said a prayer for him and your family. You are right he is now at peace. It is said the only unforgivable sin not accepting Jesus Christ as the true savior. My dad took his own life as well, and though I can not feel your pain I do have a part of myself missing too. Time will ease the pain but the hole can't be filled.

I pray god will bless you with a few precious moments of reprieve and laughter in the days and weeks to come.

That is terrible news. Guilt is a powerful feeling. I almost did the same in 2002. Lots of therapy turned me around. You need to take care of yourself. Not your fault. He probably planned his action for weeks or months, trying not to inconvenience anyone in his family.

I feel your pain my friend. Have been through this with my family and far too many friends and their families. NONE of us understand, nor will we ever understand the true feeling of what its like to NEVER wake up to the hope and promise of a new day and what the future has in store for us. God bless their souls, as their journey is a short an painful path.

I have dealt with similar situations of having immediate family members taking their own lives .It hurts so bad you often don't know what to do All you can do is take one day at a time and try to remember all the good times that you had .Mental illness is often made fun of or pushed under the rug .It is real and can be helped .But as you said most of the time we don't know what to do

I'm the youngest of six boys. I have a brother eleven months older than me who has been struggling with schizophrenia for almost forty years. It takes a huge toll on the entire family. The question I've asked myself the most over the years is why him and not me. There are no good answers.

Prayers to your brother, you and your family No one really understands mental health and depression unless you have it like I do. I am a two time survivor from suicide I guess God was not ready for me at the time.

It is a crippling disease that continues to bring you down to a point where nothing no longer matters. Family, friends or life.

Do not be afraid or embarrassed to reach out for help when you start going in that downward spiraling moment in your life.

Most of all do not be afraid to reach out to God for help as he is always with you.

I just saw this, my heart is broken for you and your family...my daughter is in the danger zone for this. Mental health is truly the most important issue in the United States right now, I cannot stress enough, if you know someone struggling, PLEASE make sure they are ok. I am saddened when a person feels that they cannot continue with life, because of what they feel! LOVE people (everyone) and if you think someone is going through a rough time, let them know that they are not alone!
