2nd stimulus didn't happen

I don't believe in it but I follow it just to watch our elected adults act like little kids. Just a mere $1 trillion apart on an agreement. Now Congress goes on recess since they've worked so hard.

I'm very happy about the outcome. Keep in mind that the unemployed still get a regular unemployment check from their state of residence, just not an additional bonus from the federal gov for not working. I was in Tractor Supply today and they had a help wanted add out front. Folks need to go back to work.

I’m sure there are people that work that are out of work but a lot do not deserve it. I did not need it or wanted it but I put it in savings was not going to throw it away. I pay enough taxes each year.

The stimulus checks and additional UI benefits financed a lot of the rioting.

Democrats were never going to let it pass from the beginning. The threw so much extra stuff into the bill that they knew the republicans couldn't vote for it. They wanted it to fail to use it to blame the republicans before the election and the media will back their story.

I'm sure the weed, spray paint and probably the i phone are already provided -- that 1200 can be used for necessities like guns and ammo

Locally, most grocery, hardware and general stores as well as bars and restaurants have been unable to hire people they vitally need. When people are paid half their regular pay, plus $600.00 to stay home, so most make considerably more than they do working, few if any will go back to work before they absolutely have to.

If their jobs are offered back to them and they refuse re- employment, they will lose their unemployment benefits.

True, but the unemployed are not taking the multitude of other jobs that are available. A huge number of companies are hiring due to Covid-19, including cleaning services, grocery stores, hardware stores, companies that ship packages and security companies and they can't find the people they desperately need because people are being paid more to stay home, than the businesses can afford to pay.

The "insurance" is funded by payroll taxes paid by employers. I expect it will have to be supplemented with additional funds because of the large number of claims. So, more taxes paid by me (I kept working and haven't laid off any employees) and others who kept working or found another job.

Welfare.

Pennsylvania (my state) is one of three states where both employers and employees pay Unemployment Insurance taxes.

Like most self-employed business owners, I get to pay into the system but am not eligible to collect from it. From my prospective that makes it welfare. For employees paying in to the system I would say they earned the right to collect.

My opinion only applies to standard UI rates. The additional $600.00 is straight up welfare.

It's the first time in human history that a pandemic and its subsequent economic crisis has been fueled by a political party and its fatal agenda. They will continue to do everything in their power to extend the misery into November. They never had any intention of passing a 2nd stimulus.

It sounds iffy of get a stimlous. Check, a chance it , but if trump does something soon to extend ui or prevent evictions. The u tube vid I watch say. That no more $1200 stimlous, also say that likely the Dems an republics are done talk about deal for good. A $1200 stimlous would help everyone, buy a expensive exhaust manifold an ask questions. About it an other stuff on vechile a spend problem, it a expensive nesscaity, I don't see how ppl can afford live. If not for 1st stimlous. An ui for while, I be totaly broke an doubt be posting anything now. Probly no phone. As much as things cost nowadays. An how lil cheap wages are for kind work do with amount taxes took out check

Just saw during the news conference that the POTUS is trying to stick landlords with deadbeat tenants. When Wisconsin's crypt keeper did this in March it cost me thousands with a new tennant that immediately ceased paying rent.

This guy is turing more and more into a socialist.

Hopefully Biden will be terrible enough that the GOP comes up with a viable candidate and we take the WH back in 2024.

I, personally, know of a landlord here in MN that has evicted 3 non-paying tenants in the last two weeks. In every case, the tenants stopped paying rent, even though they were still fully employed. Don't just assume the deadbeats are getting a free ride if they are still getting paid.

Oh absolutely! That was our case too. He eas still working amd working even more more. But as soon as he heard in his hears he didnt have to pay rent he didn't. We sent notice as soon as we could at the end of May. Took all June to get him out and July to fix the place up (typical) and got someone in last weekend.
