We lost power about 10 days ago. I had 24 full honey supers to take off, and I’ve had a bear looming around here for the last month. With the fencer down with no power, I pulled the Subaru over to the beeyard, turned the radio up , the headlights on, and left the engine running. Power came back at 1 AM, I got up and shut the car down.
I’ve had bears knock down hives 3 times in the last 46 years.....not wanting to ever repeat that.

That looks as bad as having hogs in the corn

Solar panels for the fences around bee yards is standard practice near now.

Eric, are you allowed to eat the bears you and the neighbors shot, or do you have to turn the entire thing over to the state?

I’m interested in that answer too, I could be up there in a few hours if you can keep them.

Cannot keep them for food or parts. State does not want them, just drag them off into the back forty for the buzzards.
I bought 2 different solar units. Gray squirrels ate both of them within a few days, seems the wires are made with soy based insulation as are the solar panels on them.
