Prettiest Place On Ga Coast - 08/12/20 11:48 PM

Had the pleasure of touring this property yesterday. Absolutely breathtaking! Georgia DNR will make acquisition of 16 thousand acres of the property soon as a wildlife management area allowing manged hunts for present and future generations to enjoy.

A private entity purchased 3000 acres of the 19 thousand total acres along with the former retreat area of cabins and such that is showcased in the above real estate attachment. A steal for 15 million but upkeep is gonna be costly!

A lot of history here, with only the elite allowed in here, and including this being the first known members-only hunting club in the US (1827).

This place was in danger of being developed into subdivisions and modern amenities. Now it all will be protected.

Old growth pine and maritime forests full of deer, turkeys and hogs. Absolutely stunning natural beauty.
A few pics I took yesterday....

Nice to hear news like that. Pro development always seems to win out.

That's great news! I'm always glad to hear that more land is being made available for hunting and/or fishing.

Deer not real big here...body-wise, but some decent antlers....some 5 year olds will top out at 130"...a few better.

Good native Georgia turkey population.....never needed re-stocking as much of the rest of the state did.

Feral hogs been here since the Spaniards off loaded them from their ships. Most of em jet black.

Hunts for deer and turkey will be quota limited but will be worth the wait.

Were some very old waterfowl clubs in Currituck Co, NC. Only for the rich people up north.

Sarge,
There are several WMAs in Ga that have high hog populations that are sign in hunts. No quota.
