Hunt of a lifetime

Hunt of a lifetime - 09/02/20 08:11 AM

Buddy of mine won a grizzly hunt in Alaska. He served our country and still does to a degree every day. He was a sniper and still has a long range course at home that they hold classes at.

Bear didn’t stand a chance from the start but man what an animal. I think he said it would have cost him about 25k but only cost him 1k for the tag.

I imagine the country he hunted in alone, is enough for most of us to wish we were his gun toter.
Great pics!

Blessings,

He doesn’t talk much about it but I’m sure he’s seen his share. They had him on the rooftops of skyscrapers downtown Minneapolis during the riots. I’d hate to be on the other end from him he’s a US Marshall now.

He said the first shot the bear stood on both back legs straight in the air. Was a good hit but his guide told him they didn’t want to track a wounded grizzly so he put the second in him.

That bear was an old timer for sure! Your buddy is the kind of hunter that outfitters love to guide. What’s he doing with his bear?

I got to hunt Alaska a few times, once for coastal browns. There’s no place like it in the world.

I’m not sure but knowing him I wouldn’t put a full mount behind him. I think he said only 250 yards. They circled it downwind. Head was 25 inches across. That’s got to be some force behind that bite!

Awesome! Tell him thank you for his service and congrats on the trophy!

A friend of mine guided brownie hunts in AK for a number of years. His photo albums are incredible. The scenery and animals are magnificent. After a few wounded brown bear charges, a plane wreck, and being in a boat when a glacier dam broke(or some kind of dam), he doesn't have fear of much.

Judging by that bear's teeth, he needed to be harvested. Great job! Thanks to people like him, America is still the land of the free! Thank him for his service.
