Covid Vaccine

Had my annual physical yesterday. Doctor told me I was delinquent in my flu shots, shingles vaccine, pneumonia something or other, etc. The only shot I've had in the past 10 years was a tetanus shot 2 years ago.

I declined all the shots he suggested I needed and said I wouldn't get the Covid vaccine if they ever developed one. He said he doubted I would have a choice. He said if I went anywhere I would probably be required to wear a mask.

I asked how would they know I didn't get the shot. He said he was sure they would figure out a way. If he knows what he's talking about, that's scary!

I would get the shingles vaccine.
Seen several people go thru that. Not fun.
I got them last year.

A friend of mine who had chicken pox as a child, got the vaccine. She got shingles a week later. It took 6 months to finally be pretty much free of it. She has permanent scarring from it, though.

Speaking of vaccines...I know 3 people that got this year's flu shot recently, and all three had extreme fatigue, and feverish symptoms. Said they felt sick for about a day!

Shingles vaccine you will not regret. Take that from someone who has had shingles twice.
The current pneumonia vaccine is a one time only deal. Depends on your age maybe, if over 55 I'd do it.

I have had shingles and pnuemonia both. So figure i have whatever immunity there is to get already. Neither vaccine is a guarantee you wont still get sick. Shingles are not fun.

The last shot I had was one to numb my mouth so they could remove a couple wisdom teethe. Pretty sure that was over 10 years ago.

My wife took me to get a tb test done last year so I could get my clearances for the school. There was only one paper in my file. I guess now there are two of them lol.

Shingrix is the new shingles vaccine and is over 90% effective. It is two shots taken some time apart. Expect to feel poorly especially from the 2nd shot. Regardless, it is way better than getting shingles even once (I have had them twice). Shingles affects certain nerve groups. Get shingles in the nerve group that includes an eye and it can blind that eye.

There are two pneumonia vaccines, Prevnar 13 and Prevnar 23. My recollection is that they are given a year apart.

How do you halt a trial? Hasn't all of people enrolled already had the vaccine? Seems hard to stop it once you are injected. LLL

No. Only half had received the drug. The other half placebo. Also not all had received the second dose of vaccine. And they were still signing up new patients for the trials. They have paused, not halted the trials

A friend of mine's dad got the shingle shot and it about killed him.
Could move his legs and went to the VA Dr. Was in the hospital for a couple weeks.
It moves up his body and they thought when it got to his lungs, he die.
He finally got over it. Found out while he was.there, there was.2 more cases.just like his.
