NOS Simmons Riflescope - 09/18/20 03:30 AM

Just found a Simmons Riflescope, that I forgot my Dad bought years ago. Don't know know why he picked that particular Scope, but it's still new in the box. It's a 3-9x32. . Would that be too small to mount on the Browning Model 81 BLR 308 ??

Would be about perfect for that rifle.

That particular scope would be better off being mounted on a.22

Dosent handle cold and recoil very long

I got the rings and bases for it. But, I noticed a style of scope mount I have never seen before. Piccianny (SP?) What is that ?

the same size and shape of rail found on AR-15

it specifies dimentions to be univeral by all places making 1913 picitinny rail

it is an inexpensive very basic 3-9 scope they used to be about 29.99

what you might find on a budget entry level hunting rifle combo

sort of like putting the cheapest tires on your fancy show car.

it will work , until at least for a while

cheap scopes may not have turrets that track or clicks that are really 1/4 moa exactly but typically once you get them set you can leave them alone and they stay set

I had a Simmons 6x44 on a rifle , not the highest quality glass but it did hold zero , I didn't shoot it a lot maybe 120 rounds over several years

A good scope wiall last a lifetime and then serve your grandkids. I have two 50:year old Leupold gold rings that work just fine to this day. Each as been to factory for tuneup at no charge about 20:years ago.

Do it right the first time.
