Rest in peace old Friend and fellow trapper. Knew Dirk for many years and had a chance to visit with him when I still traveled to some conventions.

Very sad, I left him a voicemail a couple of weeks ago, never got a chance to chat with him. RIP. Very sorry Allan Minear for the loss of your friend.

RIP Dirk I'll sure miss our visits on the phone and our dinners after the conventions .
Travel safe to the other camp ! There's a bunch of critters that need to be caught waiting for you !
Allan
I wondered when I heard he had sold his lure business, if things were going bad for him. He was a tough bugger, fought liver problems for many years, and I'm pretty sure he had two liver transplants. Was delt a tough hand for sure. Never once heard him complain though. RIP my old friend!

I think I first met Dirk at the Western NTA at Blackfoot. I bought a few different predator lures, a very heavy duty dirt sifter and a nice digger hammer from him. Later I provided him with some bobcat catch pictures and at least one showed up in his catalog. He was always easy to talk to and very pleasant to be around. He also gave an interesting beaver skinning demonstration. If I am not mistaken, i think he went to Alaska and fished crab a few times. The world is a much poorer place without him in it. RIP Dirk. If anyone knows where I can get one of his hammers, please PM me.

We lost another great one. Rest in peace.
I believe John Pingley from West Virginia purchased his lure business.

I liked him. I knew he had been in poor health for years. So not really a surprise. Just bad news. I hate to see him go.

Hello Lee,
I'm still lurking in the back ground. It had been two years since I saw Dirk. We would meet at the Hillsdale WY truck stop when I am trapping western Wyoming.
I have not tried the lure since he sold the company but caught countless coyotes on "Last Step II".

I met dirk for the first time over 15 years ago, did alot of trading with him.
He did alot trapping related from tumbling fur, trapping it, and lures.
I will miss him, if you wanted a deal for tail gaters i had to beat him.
I'll never forget the deal he beat me to on a oxy/act. Torch n cart at western n.t.a about
10 years ago.
He would travel all over to , came to the house once and tumbled- help grade my fur
Traded him glands, and stuff.
Prayers to his family
