The Dating Scene - 09/27/20 11:28 AM

Is much different than when I was a young man.

My wife and son were checking out at a store in town when my wife noticed the young lady working the check out was pretty much ignoring her looking at our son. He winked at her. The girl Writes her name and number on the receipt and hands it to our son. What in the world? My wife stated that the two of them never spoke a word to one another.

I can’t even tell you what my wife had to say about it. lol

He’s in his 3rd year of college.

That’s almost what his mother said too. laugh

If he's in his 3rd year of college, she likely won't be his first rodeo, if ya know what I mean. laugh Can he stay on top of a bull for 8 seconds? ;D laugh laugh

He called her and invited her to church.

Good plan! If the roof of church don't fall in, she's good to go then.

Let us know if she shows up. How old is she?

I'm no young buck but I'm no grey hair either and that interaction seems pretty normal interaction for people with more hormones than brains. It's a lot better than swiping left or right on your phone for your next encounter.

She must be a looker! Did he learn the wink from Savell?

In a few minutes you can have an online profile and with little effort meet a girl on her lunch for an encounter . Not talking her to eat but finding a quiet spot to park. Then drop her back off at work according to guys at work.

I have had cashiers at gas stations come on to me pretty forward. The last time she wrote her number on receipt paper and said call her if I wanted to have some fun. I wish I had keep her # and thought about calling and inviting her to church with the wife and I. She sure didn't mind or seem detoured when I held up my left hand. W

The world is changing and not for the better. His invitation to church must have really blew her mind. I'm sure she told all her friends. Maybe it will be such a shock and so different she will show up to see what he and this church stuff is all about. Man I'm proud of him and I dont even know him. Good job dad.

Your boy and I seem to be cut from the same cloth. I'm 53 and happily married, going pudgy and bald, but women still throw themselves at me on a daily basis. Its just a burden some of us have to bear. grin

Maybe she needs "a high hard one".

Again just being realistic!

Re: The Dating Scene - 09/27/20 02:03 PM

I had to work last weekend so my wife ordered the groceries online.

my son went with her to the store and helped the young lady working the pickup area load the groceries in the truck.

she strikes up a conversation with him ,they are chatting , she asks if he had any plans for the weekend.

he gets back in the truck , my wife informs him if an attractive young lady asks about your weekend plans , she is trying to make some.

he is 17 and was a bit embarrassed by that.

give him time

Hobbie the young ladies must like them tall my son is 6'2"

I bet they were talking via text in short order

this new generation doesn't make small talk the same way they type it in their phones

you practically have to beat verbal communication skills into them.

Re: The Dating Scene - 09/27/20 04:47 PM

Definitely a different time. Son and I went sturgeon fishing in Idaho last June. A couple weeks later a young lady shows up at our house from Twin Falls. I ask my son when and where he met her, he said when we went to Idaho fishing. He reminded me that we stopped at a Walmart for 30 minutes because we had blown a tire on the boat trailer. Only have 3 rules and he broke 1 of them - don’t date girls you meet at Walmart.

I always found that getting "lucky" with women was the same as trapping.
Willing to spend lots of money on her and lots of self confidence.

Ill add that rule to the ones we have.

I think inviting the young lady to church was moving too fast, she probably thought he wanted to marry her.
