I guess Blacks are like Woodies to us. Common to you and a trophy to me!! IF I ever kill one it WILL go on the wall/mantle to be forever memorialized.

Good hunt Bruce! I'm with these other fellows, nowadays Blacks, especially pure Blacks, are rare as hens teeth in Michigan. When I first started waterfowling 50+ seasons ago they were fairly commom, I have a Black Duck mounted yet that I shot and mounted back around '72. It is faded now, but still a special trophy.

Bald Eagles are more common than ducks around here.

Right on Bruce! Do all ducks taste the same or do they all have a different flavour? I’ve never tried duck before.

Nice pair of blacks! We had a pair fly just out of range saturday. One bird limit for black ducks here. Too bad about the mallards being taken. Not much better than woodduck thats been feeding on acorns. I got one in the fridge now!

Teal and wood ducks are the best tasting to me.

Good job, we don’t get many black ducks this far west. I’ve seen maybe 2 in my life and they were mixed into large flocks of mallards. Really tough to pick out of the flock unless you really know what to look for.
