how long does a new rooster need to with the hens till the chicks would be his offspring??

2 weeks
A hen can hold fertility from a rooster for up to 2 weeks.

A rooster can sire new offspring on a hen the same day he's put with her, even if she was with another rooster immediately before. Hens can typically lay fertile eggs for 14 days from one breeding, so the previous rooster could be the sire too. I have heard of fertile eggs being laid up to 20 some days after the loss of the rooster.
