Anyone watch a series called Frontier?

The promo on Netflix (yes they suck but I am a guest here) makes it look like the history of the fur industry will be front and center.

Has anybody watched it and is it worth a mans time?


I'd like to hear from everyone who has seen it, even those dern yankees!

Yea I’ve watched it and I enjoyed it. It’s not what I expected it to be when I first watched it but i enjoyed it

I've watched it.
Can get brutal at times.
Not sure what your expecting to get.
But mostly about fighting for the fur markets in that era.
If i remember right.

Watched the first season, so far. Haven't got back to the rest yet. Pretty bloody at times, but a good watch.

Knew the fur buyer that was lining up the furs for the next season.....I think he is bald now from; with all the production la-te-daws demands

Too much soap opera and gore. Needed more solitude, wild country, wildlife, and trapping.

I haven’t watched Frontier but liked “Longmire”. It’s a modern day western type series.

Thanks guys I watched a couple episodes and you are right. It's heavy on fighting and light of the taking of fur but I'm enjoying it anyway.

There parts that are definitely NOT kid friendly.

Nope I don't have netflix and a busy playing a part in a series about a Kraut idiot living in a boat on a hill and moving dirt from one place to another.

Overly gory, but somewhat entertaining. How much truth is there in the story, meaning the fight between HBC and other fur traders?

I watched the first episode and binge watched the rest, wish they would do a new season.

The first season was watchable, the second season started getting weird, and became even more unrealistic. The end episode seemed like the writers got bored and gave up....

You dont know the history of the fur trade?The rivalrys were brutal and long lasting-a couple of centurys.
The worst were the trade wars between 1783 and 1821.Widespread dispair and death.
After 1861 the HBC emerged with a monopoly.

I never watched the hollywood show version so dont know how realistically it has been portrayed there.

I'm like you Boco I suspect Hollywood has put it's own spin on this but yes, I have always heard the battles for control of fur up north were as fierce as anything.

I wanted to like it but couldn't get into it. Seemed like steam punk meets fur trade.

I have watched the series and I enjoyed it. I knew going in it was not a documentary, although I wish they would make one, might surprise some people how bloody the real happenings were.
