Old time gun fans- tell me about a Cobray .410 - 10/10/20 10:17 PM

I ran onto probably the lightest weight .410 single shot I have ever seen. Tag says the manufacturer is Cobray and the asking price is about two fiddy.

Anybody have one? This one is well used but it looks like an ideal snake lay still stick.

All opinions or other options welcome.

had some of those kits back in the 90s they are about 3/16 side plates , with a welded in plate for a breach

they were a kit you could buy out of shotgun news

unfortunately all were lost to a fire before we got a wire feed welder and could weld in the breach plate

you could buy the kits as a derringer or a shotgun like your pic

derringer kits were around 30 dollars I think 50 for the shotgun kit

i think you could get one finished also don't know how much those cost.

I would not give 250 for one

a NEF or H&R should sell for 200-250 max for a 410 and is 100 times the gun those are

the lock up is a pin with a spring that pushes it in to a notch

imagine you had a laser and a sheet of 3/16 mild steel and you cut both sides and the breech from that and used plastic spacers to set them apart and welded the breach plate in

I think they were only rated for 2 1/2 inch shells

if you need a cheap 410 snake tamer https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/rossi-tuffy-410-bore-single-shot-shotgun
better made almost half the price
