Got a request to speak at the next Georgia Beekeepers Association Spring Conference on Varroa Management. I'm absolutely floored by it.

I guess its true what I learned in the service. If you can't amaze them with brilliance the baffle them with BS.

I'm a betting it wasn't the BS that got you the job! lol

I lost my hives last winter and split two double queen packages 4 ways this spring.

I did two OA treatments the first two weeks, (after I saw open brood).

I just did another OA in September on two of the hives and didn't get one to mite drop. I put in Apivar on the other two but I believe I am mite free. Thanks to the early OAV, and having no other honey bees in the area.

You very well could be. I find it hard to imagine but there are still isolated areas that are mite free. Australia has managed somehow to keep them out.

With no doubt, varroa mites kill more hives than everything else combined. Until a new beekeeper figures this out, he’ll be a steady costumer of Gardner’s and Hardeman.

If I lived closer ..I’d be there. I Nevah had bees ...but it’s on the bucket list. And someone thinks you know a little...congrats.
