Feinstein was trying very hard to trap Barrett especially on gun issues

Lindsay Grahams interview with her was very well done. Barrett wouldnt answer Feinsteins questions because she kept asking for personal opinions on cases that Barrett might possibly hear someday. Watching Feinsteins nonverbal frustration was worth my time.

Watched Durbin of IL try to trap her with her decisions in some old cases she presided and some hypothetical ones. She explained her opinions which were based on common sense interpretations of the law and how it was intended. She's definitely a very sharp person.

I'm happy to see she is flying right through the hearing process.
The Dems are having a hard time with this one. I think because the appointee is a woman the Dems don't want to look like they are picking on her; really puts them between a rock and a hard place. I love it.

They are on a break right now. NBC reporters are critiquing the hearing. As expected, they are doing their best to find fault with the proceedings. They admitted that ACB has been quite impressive in her responses.

If I was to be in the position to question a nominee, I'd question their stance on relying heavily on precedent for their verdicts.

Cavanaugh also said he'd rely on precedent verdicts to influence his decisions. I'd ask them how more freedoms are attained if relying on precedents? Such as voting rights, ect.

I just don't see the reason there is so much weight put on them. Any thoughts?

I would view the Constitution as precedent.

Also if previous decisions were not used as some basis for new decisions, can you imagine the chaos that would be generated with each new iteration of the court ? As member justices change, so does the world view of the court. That shouldn't influence decisions but we know it does......Roberts ! Consequently, I prefer the court to be constrained by precedent.
