Sinus flush kit - 10/17/20 02:16 PM

Sounds pretty gross, but was at docter other day. An last summer. Was told that dont sound like nothing covid related, on both vists, was told allergy's all time high all summer, have had issues months years. With sinus an drainage down throat, was inflame when breathe upper airways last 10 days is why went, no sore throat. Or sneezing or plug nose. But crap go down head an when breathe, it sound terrible, not in lungs at all but throat, got antibiotics an better, also high blood pressure pills, but got what I think call a nesi pot flush kit, put bottle water. In a speacil plastic bottle an sinus saline powder, an didn't do right first but 2nd did an works great, but need do more as only done it twice in 4 days, u don't breathe, hold breathe, lean forward over sink, squirt water up one nostril an u have to open mouth for to work, like vent on gas can an come out other nostril an back flush other nostril, unbelieavable it works great, an help lot, if did twice a day. Help lot, u have use bottle water, tap water has bacteria, an clesn good after. The bottle, my biggest concern is I not get applicater clean enough an get infection from unsterile applicater. Not sure what happen if bacteria in nose from it

I've used a Neti pot for years. No need for bottled water or special saline solution. 1/4 teaspoon of table salt and tap water. Shake and put in microwave for 15 seconds to warm it up. Between the microwave and the salt there should be no problem with bacteria. Why complicate matters and worry unnecessarily? Relax.

Well if you're using bowels it might take more to sanitize.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/17/20 04:06 PM

I use them often and they work great. The powder is saline. Use either distilled water or bottle water. Immediately rinse in hot water. Honestly I've found that using the sinus rinse while in the shower is much better.
You can sanitize it by pouring boiling water on it and letting it sit or can microwave it. The instructions usually say what's the best way to sanitize it

This is what I use

Leave bottled water on the counter so the water is room temperature. You're issue sounds like mine. I have terrible acute sinusitis. Which means my sinuses are inflamed and full. They are so bad If I drink or eat too much dairy I get an instant sinus infection. Im talking within minutes.
One set of drs wants to scrape the bones around all sinus cavities to solve the issue.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/17/20 06:56 PM

I can't use a neti pot yet. But use that simply saline by arm and hammer daily with good results. This stuff is an aerosol saline, just spray it up your nose. It keeps my allergies at bay. I have chronic sinusitis and have had surgery in my sinuses.

I had some blood clots here a few weeks ago and had to get my sinuses cauterized. Sinus issues suck!!!!

Mine are terrible. I've learned the hard way to minimize inflammatory foods. I need a second opinion now that our governor is letting us see our drs

Suck it up pay the price and buy a Navage system. Has its own pre measured salt pods to use. Haven't had a sinus infection since I started using one for 2 years now. I use to use table salt and a syringe for years and had sinus problems.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/18/20 02:10 AM

I had chronic sinus problems for over 35 years
I would get a couple sinus infections every spring and every fall.
I changed doctors and my new one suggested I try a netti pot and I have cut back the infections to only one a year and when I start getting stopped up I use the netti pot 3 X a day and it clears up any infection starting.
It’s a lot better than getting your sinuses dwelled. Thats why l got a new doctor

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/19/20 12:48 PM

Placing 3ml or a squeeze of Betadine into the 8 oz bottle of saline mix works wonders.
Having sinus infections and unable to cure them, I tried this:
NeilMed sinus rinse kit.
Mix in the 8 oz bottle as recommended using salt/baking soda packet.
Add 3ml or a squirt of Betadine.
Squirt into one nostril. Pinch off other nostril.
Squirt into other nostril and pinch off opposite nostril.
Lift head.
Solution will drain into sinus cavity.
Let sit for 30 seconds to one minute in sinus cavity.
Repeat until Betadine solution is empty.
I did this for 1 month daily.
All signs of infection were gone completely without antibiotics.
I also mix my own salt to baking soda solution in a one gallon milk jug to save a few dollars.
BETADINE microbicides kill bacteria (both gram-positive and gram-negative), fungi, viruses, protozoa and yeasts.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 12:30 AM

Hi. I'm new to the forums and I seem to have bought 2 tanks of Aqua Tainer containers since I have about 8 gallons of distilled water, and was thinking about storing them in them. I figured it would be more safer for longer storage, but I wanted to ask for your two cents. on this. Are Aqua Tainer containers good for long term distilled water storage? I plan to use them as time goes on since both containers have a spout which should make filling a neti pot easy. I was going too open a topic on this, but I figured asking here wouldn't hurt if that's ok. I've included a video below. Sorry if the window is too big. It's the default size. If you have advice on how to lower it's size if need be I can.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 12:51 AM

You can buy distilled water pretty cheap by the gallon I’d go that route.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 01:07 AM

Sorry everyone. I'm new to the forums. I saw this topic and figured it wouldn't hurt to comment on it. As for buying by the gallon as Bob Iowa mentioned, is there some issue with using Aqua Tainer containers? Maybe what the plastic container is made of? Once again, sorry to sound like I was bumping a dead horse. I'm new to the forums.

Peruvian flake works for me. Expensive but fun and after using it I can even read some of the posting on here.

Have you checked your house for mold ?

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 01:56 AM

I'm a little suspicious of all this sort of thing. Sinus flush, colon flush, etc.. I think we were designed so that our body naturally takes care of these functions.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 02:13 AM

Reponding to DanN. That used to be the case. Thankfully renovations where done to my house a year ago so no. That mold is gone. However As far as netipots go, I just put the distilled water in the two Aqua Tainer containers. I started to figure reopening this topic wasn't my best choice. Sorry about that.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/24/23 05:08 PM

Thanks for the advice Tatiana. I made a screen shot of your post. Should be useful advice for me to look into. Edit:One question i'd like to ask and i'm open to criticism on this. I've heard a tea spoon of apple cider vinegar helps with infection. Is that safe to use. If so is there a limit to how often it should be used.

I would think a good snort of yogurt would help add bacteria up your sinuses as well eek

I meant swallowing it, more than anything, but i'm open to info here. I've tried it and it numbs the pain, but I wanted to know if anyone has their thoughts.

Re: Sinus flush kit - 10/25/23 01:41 AM

Thanks Tatiana for the advice. I screenshot both your comments for future reference which should help down the road. Hopefully it should give some insight. Something tells me that my netipot might be causing the issue. Every now and then I see mild traces of blood on the dried mucus that I blow out my nose Not sure if it's the netipot not having abulb or not, but I noticed things go down hill when I used the one without the bulb.

Meanwhile I found saline spray that works as an inhaler. It's mentioned on the questions section on Amazon that adults can use it even though it's marketed for children for whatever reason. I just can't seem to find any other saline inhalers out there. Sounds like an innovative idea, though it does make me feel weird mentioning it here given that it's listed as a baby product. Makes me wonder why it's marketed as such and why there's no other kind of product like that on the market(let alone and adult version. Meanwhile if the baby inhaler(LOL as I say it because reasons) isn't a safe option i'm sure there are saline inhalter machines that could be bought.

Update:I found this. I don't know if it lets you add saline, but could be work a look.
