Nice pictures, Boco! I wish I would have taken pictures on one I found in a back slough up to the north of me on the Mississippi about 15 years ago. It was honestly the size of my house, if not bigger. Most amazing beaver house I have ever seen.

Re: Anyone take pictures of beaver houses. - 10/18/20 01:52 AM

I trapped a huge pond off and on for years, depending on water level I could occasionally see what I thought was a lodge on the far side, that I could not access. Then I got a better look one year and decided it was actually a slash pile from the logging that had occurred years before. Next trip, several years later the "slash" pile was covered with peeled sticks and poles. It was actually a beaver lodge, about the size of a small house. No wonder I never ran out of beaver there.

Beaver are just about the craziest critter there is.
Get up every morning and haul more mud, gnaw on more trees, and see what we can create.
Imagine all the folks who go through this life and never think about a Bev.
They sured missed it!

Thanks y'all for the photos.

Blessings,
Mark

If beaver had TV they wouldn't be so active. If people didn't have TV they could build nice houses too like a beaver.

Did you ever notice the correlation between the size of the TV and the amount of social assistance a family is on?

Haven't you heard? Beaver houses in Canada are bigger, cheaper, stronger and the occupants live in true freedom! grin

Nice pics Boco-beautiful country you trap.Wish we had more beavers around these days-3 years of drought in a row has done it's damage.Just not the numbers down south in Manitoba.Up north might be a different story here though.Love seeing your beaver trapping adventures.

Re: Anyone take pictures of beaver houses. - 10/20/20 12:07 PM

Those trees days are numbered !
Does look like GBH nest, or you have over-sized house wrens there.
Been my experiences as well Boco, water and cameras don't mix well just like water and beer, it ain't going to happen

The lodge isn't in the frame but you can see the sign everywhere.

Boco I bet you didn't realize Texas was so big!

Thats a nice pic, leftlane,it reminds me of a place on the RR between North Bay and Temagami if it had tall white pines.
What are all those deciduous trees-look like good beaver habitat for sure.

Thanks aix-I try to get some of the scenery into the background when I snap catch pics too.I use a mid price (kind of cheap compared to some) fuji waterproof camera.
My old olympus gave up the ghost after a beaver baptism,so I bought the waterproof one.

Hey Rally, thats a cool rack on the front of the little tundra.

Re: Anyone take pictures of beaver houses. - 10/24/20 03:34 AM

Yep, nice work platform and keeps Popple out of the windshield some too. Two wingnuts and two pins to remove it. Holds a couple good beaver to keep the skis down when the trailer gets heavy.
Posted By: Northof50

Re: Anyone take pictures of beaver houses. - 10/24/20 04:54 AM

Canadian translation of popple is Trembling aspen...... the tree trembles when it hears a beaver chewing near by.
And in keeping with a winter theme.
[Linked Image]

and who said beaver cant make 500 yards under ice.
[Linked Image]

The house in the foreground a beaver swam out past one already caught, and 2 minutes later heard the trap go off in the house on the corner

Rally's pictures (except the first one) look like they could have been taken yesterday the way MN weather has been.

Re: Anyone take pictures of beaver houses. - 10/24/20 10:56 PM

The first one is a beaver dam. I'm standing on one end and the other end is at the tree line way out there!
