Coyote Time!

Coyote Time! - 10/23/20 12:34 AM

Well, its that time of year again for me. We've got snow on the mountains and I've got my wall tent set up in the high desert and have started catching coyotes. Seem to be catching darker color coyotes this year trapping a different area but no complaints, Also caught a nice coyote the other day with a white tipped tail, anyone else seen this? Ive never caught one like that before. Ill post a picture when I get it put up. Put out some wolf sets and grabbed a nice 85 lb female wolf as well. Hoping to get some more. Home for today to deer hunt with no luck but headed back to check everything in the morning. Just thought I'd share a few pics of my line so far. I'd like to get pics of all my catches but I get too excited alot of the time and forget. Got a few really good scenery and wildlife pics too but don't have time to pull them off my camera now. Hope everyone else is having a good fall.

Looking good. That looks like a number 3 Bridger dogless. I have those but took the four coil off as to hard to set.

Great to start seeing catch pictures on here again.

That wolf looks really fluffy. I hope it's as nice as it looks to me.

Thanks! It was 10 hunting tags and 10 trapping tags but I believe they bumped it up to 15 ea.

Nice coloured wolf Ted.It pays to put the time into skinning one for taxi if you have a nice one.

I really like mine actually, I can fit bait lure urine, all my tools and a trap or two in there. Plus the backpack feature comes in handy every once and a while.

Haha! The size comparison really is amazing to see .This one was in the sage slopes but headed out into the flatter country, but there was pines and mahogany with elk not too far off. I think they come down and try to catch antelope in the flatter stuff sometimes.

Nice! No winter weather there yet?

Re: Coyote Time! - 10/25/20 12:56 AM

Thanks all you guys! Got lucky and found a nice buck yesterday. I’m sure he is pretty small by midwest standards but for Idaho he is a pretty decent whitetail I think. Shot lots of muleys but this was my first whitetail buck. [Linked Image]

Oh yeah, we got a little bit of snow down low and a good layer in the mountains. It’s been 0 degrees F or so last few days up on my line.

Nice looking wolf.
Whats the tire gizmo? Tent weight to help keep it from kiting off?

At 7000’ with 0 degree temps at night our coyotes are fully prime by now. The lower elevations not quite but that’s why I always start up high and move down as the weather gets colder. Seems like the first 2 or 3 I catch in the very beginning have a small tinge of blue on the leather but by the 15th or so it’s nice and white.
