Re: Fracking...... - 10/23/20 11:16 PM

My oldest daughter has worked for a water company in Alberta for the last 10 years. Their job is getting water to well sites that needed fracking via portable pipelines. In the early years most of the water and chemicals used was lost during the fracking job. Now days they recover a high percentage of both. We've come a long ways and the oil industry employs huge numbers of people. The support/supply and service end is even bigger. Joe lost the election when he went down that road.

Hard to say.A lot of younger people are interested in green energy.

I’m not retrofitting the Chevelles with electric motors. Go big block or go home. No replacement for displacement.

I’m all for green energy but the reality is we do not have the technology to replace oil. We aren’t even close.

I was in the coal mining industry 37 years. I’ve literally known thousands of miners. Can’t recall a single one of them being for green energy.

Well....California has mandated no internal combustion engines by 2035 and a 50% reduction by 2025. That's only five years from now.
On top of that, Democrats (who else ?) have submitted a bill in the US Senate that mirrors the CA law.

California has mandated the sale of internal combustion engines, not ownership by 2035. At least not yet.

I think my best coyote year on my bike was 7.
And I peddled my buns off.

Think how skinny folks will be again with all the bike riding going on.
That could elevate green house gases though.
All that peddling.
Outlaw bikes maybe?

Stupid is as stupid does.

Can’t wait to see how they are going to harvest crops with electric tractors and separators. You know, in places where the fields are so big the equipment requires an oil change in the middle of them. lol

Can’t wait to see an electric dump truck either.

Re: Fracking...... - 10/24/20 11:53 AM

Best way to stop fracking is slap a 12% tax on it before the first well is drilled. When they leave one can always lower the tax to try to get them back. 12% or 1/8 royalty used to be the land owners cut.

Need to stop the oil industry here and buy from the East. They need financing for their war projects on us!

Correct ! But CA has 11% of all light vehicles in the US. That's a heck of a hit to someone selling gas or diesel.

Good to know it's gotten better. I Have an Alaskan friend who did the same a few years back. He said the amount of chemicals left down the holes were eye opening and very disturbing.

Be a whole lot more things being lost if the oil industry shuts down and does not produce by products.

Not many even giving that a thought about the products besides all kinds of fuel oil produces !!

Doubt there is enough green any where in an way to reproduce those loss's that the world uses due to oil by-product creations !

Re: Fracking...... - 10/24/20 11:01 PM

Out of sight out of mind is about as far as the green people go. They don't think there is any oil spills or pollution over there in the sand in the East. Same way with coal, rather than use coal here where there is at least an attempt to clean it up we keep buying the products made in China with dirty coal. The outfits like green peacers , peta and climate change many times start out as a legitimate cause then gets derailed when they themselves cause problems to get extra attention to bring in the people needing a cause and bring their money with them to put more fluff in the CEO nest. Even some of the gun lobby was not pure believers in any thing other than the money to be had.

Southern Illinois is lousy with shale oil and they leased thousands of acres at good money of which those leases were not renewed. For about a year all the court houses were full of people running abstracts and then Chicago decided they could drain off a hefty chunk from them by adding a big tax on it. No wells were ever drilled. Perhaps cheaper oil helped that also.
