My deer woods is infested with beggar....

I bet 3/4 of the place is covered with these lousy plants.

My property is loaded with them as well ...

Best way we have found is use a knife and shave them off. This woods has always had a few spots of them but this year they exploded everywhere.

Oh yes.......we called them Devils Fork. God does have a sense of humor.

All the brown weeds in this photo is that junk.

Would a burn cure that or make it worse?

Not sure. This woods is a creek bottom that usually floods a few times a year and this year i don't think it flooded at all. So that may be why this stuff went crazy

Fun fact - a similar plant, burdock , is what gave a swiss inventor the idea to create hook&loop fastener better known as Velcro.

We call those burrs here.Find them in foxes tails occasionally.They comb out a lot easier than burdock.
Dont set snares in a meadow where they grow.

Spanish needle, the thin blacks in the photo, is a bee plant providing good amounts of pollen and nectar. In some areas it's enough to make a crop of honey on.

It gets worse...the scientific name for that junk is Bidens sp. Lol.

Best way to get them off is to bring them into the house and let the wife deal with them. Just make sure your dog house is well heated. lol

Gotta make sure they make it through the washer and drier before she notices them. And before you ask I have the nicest dog house in town.
