oil/the big picture - 10/24/20 09:22 PM

ive seen many posts about oil/energy and our need for it ,i agree with all of them but its not the big big picture. lets not forget plastic, what coats every electric wire in the world. how about plastic for medical uses, ever see a copper IV tube. and the list goes on and on. time to see the forest not the trees.

Good point. There are lots of products we get from oil besides energy.

Just today the 2nd Canadian bank ( Bank of Montreal) announced it would boycott ANWR. RBC bank was the first. That means they will not do business with any company that has anything to do with ANWR and the oil fields.

You are correct. Now, there are other ways to make those things, BUT as of now it is WILDY more expensive than oil. It would be wise to start investing in making those processes better and begin to form the infrastructure and technology to utilize those other options efficiently but we are likely 100+ years out from having the tech to walk away from fossil fuels. An incremental, slow shift away from fossil fuels is a good plan in my opinion.

Full disclosure, I worked as a construction and maintenance foreman in the oilfield in North Dakota for ten years, I know the good, bad, and ugly of oil intimately, through firsthand experience, not what the media tells you.

Well ain’t that awfully progressive? So many life enhancing and preserving products come out of petroleum. Take all of those evil petroleum based medical supplies away and then expect a reasonable level of medical care by modern standards?

They are probably signed onto the "PRINCAPLES OF RESPONSIBLE BANKING " a pact or agreement signed onto by 1/3 of the worlds banks . The banks that signed onto it agreed to get out of fossil fuels , weapons , intensive agriculture ,and basically anything else deemed politicaly incorrect .
this pact was signed a couple months before NAFA 's bank "said they didnt want to be in the fur business anymore " The bank that NAFA CHECKS were writen off of was on the list of banks signatory to the agreement .Unfortunately NAFA was over credited and vulnerable and went bankrupt .
This agreement is not a conspiracy theroy and it is influencing buisiness and our lives every day .

Oil stocks are all in washout mode. Could be a generational buying opportunity.

There are many products that can be made not using petroleum...unfortunately most of them actually use more petroleum in the process of making the said product, than just using petroleum to begin with (just going by hearsay).
