Problems with usps - 10/24/20 10:04 PM

Is anyone having problems with deliveries from USPS. I ordered a package from Sterling fur last Monday. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday but still shows Departed Akron Ohio. USPS cannot give me any answers on it either. Package was expensive and I'm afraid I'm going to be out of some money. All it says is delayed in transit

Was your package insured...? That's always an option for either the seller to include or the buyer to ask (and pay) for. I've shipped close to 2,000 packages through USPS over 20 years and I can count on my hand the ones that never showed up, and two of those I thing were crooks in Hawaii. Sometimes packages "go missing" for a while but they usually show up...

USPS tracking is a sick joke but chances are you will get it before the tracking is updated.

Got one last week, from Ohio, tacking said "delayed". Went to go to town and opened up the garage door, and there it was.

It's definitely delayed it was supposed to be here yesterday. I don't know about insurance I would hope the seller put it on

We ship over 2,000 packages a year by USPS priority mail. Packages not being scanned, arriving late, going to the wrong state, or being returned to us for no reason have been getting worse for the last couple of years. Covid really messed things up. They're getting a little better now but it's still not as good as it was a year ago.

Our post master is great to work with. We get a lot of packages that are scanned as delivered but the customer says they never got it. She can pull up the GPS coordinates where it was scanned as delivered. Sometimes it's at the customer's house. Sometimes it's at the wrong house. We've even had them get scanned as delivered in a parking lot miles away from the destination.

It can be a pain . BUT you guys must cut them some slack right now. Postal workers are getting buried in packages . MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of packages were people are ordering on line due to the plague. Our carrier told me her route used to take her about 5 hr s run but now was 8-9.PLUS she hand sorts all of it before she leaves the warehouse, 11-12 hour days. So much mail won't fit in the box and 50-60% of her stops she has to get out and take to porch. I feel for them !!! Just a little light on the problem . PLUS add in millions of ballots !!!! that's just on the delivery end imagine what it looks like in distribution.!!!

There is something to the up take in mail because the president said no to more money for them. Their sales had increased because of so much postage .......

jbyrd63 , good post. Good points.
I normally bash the USPS . Right now they are getting hammered , I will agree.

I will grant them a temporary bit of slack until the covid and mail-in ballot fiasco is done.

I’ve only had a couple of troubles in the last 22 years at our present address. But I still wouldn’t trust them with a lottery ticket or voting ballots.

You want a double delay , just order something that is coming from a supplier in California.!!! I order most of my fishing tackle (or did) from tackle ware house. But due to their crazy restrictions they can only have a percentage of their employees filling orders. 2 day shipping is gone . Normal shipping took 4-5 business days. NOW IT"S 2-3 WEEKS !!!!!!!!

Standard (free) tracking is terrible but of course they offer premium tracking for extra $. With that in mind I don't expect standard tracking to improve over time.

I received a bundle of letters yesterday that were post-marked June 5. Several checks in there, which I had already asked the people to cancel and send new checks. Seriously, a bundle of about a dozen things that took four months to get here, most of them were from Fargo, which is not far away.

Yes, I have a small package that is 5 days past the delivery date. Got no tracking # for it. I sent the sender a message.

The USPS lost 8.8 billion dollars last year, making it the most profitable branch of the U.S. Gubmint.

But not nearly as bad as FedEx. I will never use them again. Time and again they will tell you the package is out for delivery, and then it doesn't show up. Happens all the time. If a UPS package says it's out for delivery I always get it that day.

Re: Problems with usps - 10/26/20 02:52 PM

90% of the packages I send out are on time

The other 10% do arrive 1 - 2 weeks late and all have the same message you have

All the major carriers have messages posted on their websites saying they can not guarantee any delivery date because of high volumes

Re: Problems with usps - 10/26/20 03:54 PM

Just ordered parts from Thompson center Tuesday at noon. It was a warranty part and the lady said we ship it on normal usps and it will take about a week and a half. I asked "is there any way you can get it here sooner? Our season opens Saturday and I need it." she said that if I would be willing to pay $15 for 2 day shipping they would ship it that way. I gladly paid it thinking I would at least get it in time to get to hunt opening evening. It is now 11 AM the next Monday and no package has been received. I spent opening weekend sitting at home steaming.
