Lost my dad

Lost my dad - 10/25/20 10:56 AM

This morning about 4 am, my dad lost his battle with cancer. He had prostate cancer for 12 years, with a good quality of life until the last 2 weeks. The horrible disease had progressed rapidly to his brain. Hospice has kept him comfortable these last 2 weeks. He passed peacefully and comfortably.

Re: Lost my dad - 10/25/20 05:42 PM

Larry, my deepest condolances to you and your family. You will have a few rough days ahead, but remember the times that you loved doing things together. It's hard to say goodbye, but your strong and will make it through. When you said that about your dad not knowing how you make a yote step on the pan, it reminded me of my dad and something he would say. My dad always told me growing up that you couldn't catch a coyote in a steel trap, but I took him along one day and he said I guess I'll have to eat my words. Never seen him so excited! RIP, dad.

Re: Lost my dad - 10/26/20 10:33 AM

Last winter I set my dad up, and I never did tell him. I had just a few sets out before our deer season. It was a Saturday morning and I had a coyote in a set. I went back to town and called him and asked if he wanted to go check with me. Of course I had to wait while he had his daily coffee at the cafe with all his buddies. All the while hoping the yote didn't pull out. Finally we got to checking, with several empty traps. We rounded a small hill and there was the coyote. He was as excited as a 9 year old Christmas morning. He talked about that for the last year, including telling all his coffee cronies. I never did tell him that I set him up and will forever remember his excitement that November morning.

LDW,
Several wonderful memories packed into these sentences.
You love your father.
You always will.
You remember the things you did and didn't share with him.
You wanting to spend time with a man you admired and respected.
You and your father checking traps together.
You and your dad celebrating a coyote catch.
Your father was a man of emotion.
Your dad loved to tell anyone who would listen how he loved his son - through a coyote story.
Your dad sitting among all his cronies.

The love we have for others is a true gift from God.
A blessing in every sense.
He made it so.
Let's remember to thank God for His wonderful gifts to us.

May your father rest among the angels on high LDW.
Praying you and your father spend an eternity hugging and high fivin about all sorts of memories brother.

Blessings,
Mark
