Reloading Question - 10/26/20 01:59 PM
I have a Ruger Redhawk in a 480 I would like to take a deer with it this season it was very hard to find bullets for it. I finally found some 275 gr bullet but only one of my reloading books has a powder charge for it and I have none of the powder listed. Is there any place on the internet I can go to that will show a charge for that grain bullet?

Usually some of the powder companies have loads listed on their websites. Alliant does pretty sure

Hodgden or however you spell it gives that info on their website as well.

DID YOU EVEN try searching for it
Go to vehntevori I'm sure I spelled it wrong but they have a burn rate chart that shows powders that are the same side by side. Very helpful. I copied it and put it in my book as soon as I found it.

Danny I have a Hodgdon manual and have H4227,H110,Lilgun,Longshot, they have loads in heavier grain bullets but nothing for the 275 gr bullet only Barnes has a load for 275 bullets and I have not got the power they show.
hodgdon doesn't list a 275gr
http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistolAlliant does however
http://www.alliantpowder.com/reload...eight=275&shellid=39&bulletid=76remember Aliant is old style tell you max and you figure out 90% for starting load

Personally I would not substitute Hodgdon powder for IMR data. Looks like that H110 should work though
hard to beat the data from the bullet manufacturer
if you are using the speer 275

Thank for your comments the data posted is very helpful I need to up grade my reloading manuals or quit getting newer calibers.
even the Hornady 10th edition only has 325gr loads for the 480 ruger
Lee started with 325 and went up
things move so fast these days that even Hornady has released a reloading app for 99 cents a cartridge you can download just what you want or 19.99 you get all the data and it includes the hard cover 10th edition also not that it would do much good if it has the identical data to the 10th edition hard cover I have for 480 ruger.
