Did not get a beaver permit

We have to get into a lottery to get a permit to trap beaver in NJ. My son and I applied for the permit this year for the first time - no luck though. Only 2 permits are issued in our zone, which I just did a quick and dirty estimate of about 160,000 acres. A permit allows 8 beaver to be harvested. There aren't a lot of beaver around but harvesting 1 beaver per 10,000 acres doesn't seem like much.

WOW!!! I never dreamed anywhere would have a lottery for beaver!!!

Don't feel bad, I have not gotten a beaver or otter permit in 5 years of applying for all 3 choices, Although my daughter just took her course this fall and pulled a Otter permit. Just luck of the draw. We fought to get the Beaver handed over to the state in Trenton and won but our oh so great governor shot it down when it came across his desk. Fish&Game wants to issue more permits and that would've allowed it. Maybe the next Governor.

Yeah we have one in Ohio for public lands.

I know where to get some "electro" gadgets that are used to collect bull semen. Sounds like a number of NJ officials need these applied to them except don't bring "collection" devices...

Just checked my email.I got a permit. Should be easy to catch my eight. There are a lot of beaver around.

I never would have even imagined that they would do that, here some counties are paying to get them trapped.

Pretty hard to take, since most people that pull the tags either don't even use them or get only 1 0r 2 out of the allowable 8.

We've got so many nuisance beaver in the Northern Zone
in New York State that they cancelled the 1st week of
muskrat trapping season to try and force muskrat trappers
to trap beaver.

You can come up here and trap beaver & otter with no
bag limits.

Come catch as many as you want.

of the State and NYSTA cancelling a week of our
muskrat trapping season in an imbecilic attempt
to force muskrat trappers to trap beaver while
muskrat trapping.

I applied, Having to send me a Post Card. I aint in to puters. In "NEWT'S WORLD" a puter is for T-Man only. Just to play on when I want to take a break frrom building snares.

Do you have to show proof of a trapping license to apply for a permit? If not, you can bet ARs will be applying spoiling a true trapper's chance of ever getting one.

I applied also and asked for postcard notification. Years ago the best way to get a permit was to catch your limit the year before! With limited permits Fish and Game wanted to make sure beaver got caught, so there was an A
and a B pile of applications. Now it is not so.
