Y'all folks give your governors to much power. One key feature of southern governments is figurehead but weak governors. When we finally got to rewrite our constitutions after the yanks left the governorships were basically stripped of power.
Even George Wallace was only as powerful as his rhetoric and ability stir the electorate.
