remington 512 - 11/29/20 11:28 AM

I recently acquired a 512 remington and would like to have it drilled and tapped for a scope. Does anyone make a base for it? Any suggestions?

Back in my early teen years (1964 maybe) I had a 511 youth model. Weaver made a side scope mount that allowed you to use the scope or the open sights. Maybe there is still something around like that.

Is it not grooved on top for 22 rings?

The one I got was a Weaver 1 piece mount. It looks like they set it on and marked the holes then drilled. I wish you were closer. I’d trade you guns.

I am looking at a pile of 400 new old stock weaver bases. If you figure out what number base you need let me know and I am sure I have it.

The 22 in our house was (and still is) a Remington 510....same as 512, but single shot. It now has a Weaver one piece mount (I think it is a T-1) and matching Weaver 4x scope. Looks like they turn up on ebay now and then.

If it is a TO-1 I have several.

I have mounted dozens of three eights inch rails,
To except tip off mounts.
Brownells carries those rails in 12” sections.

I have the Remington 550-1,,wich is basicly the same rifle ,but in semi auto.It says shorts, long and long rifle on the barrel and it will cycle all of them flawlessly.I would like to see a modern .22 do that.I too would like to scope this rifle,,but I think I will have to have it drilled and tapped. So I will be watching this thread.

My 550-1 has a Weaver V22 scope mounted to the factory grooves cut in the receiver.

I can get you one. Not here......it's at the farm, which is 100 miles away. I'm assuming photo of scope and mount?

I've been looking for one like it.....or 511 or 512.....for here. But for the price I'm seeing folks ask, I might as well buy a new Ruger.

Mine doesn't have the factory grooves. From what I can find,,mine was made in 1950,,and the grooved receiver option didn't come out till 1958.

How in the world can a semi-auto with a tube fed magazine be the SAME as a bolt action rifle (different action and magazine fed)? Also.the 511 has a one piece stock and the semi autos are two piece stock.Basically the same, like "we went to different schools together! crazy

You maybe should do a bit of research before flapping your lips..Did you look at the two rifles side by side? NOPE.They look identical other than the bolt.Same tube fed magazine, same ONE PIECE stock.

Your best bet is to have a very competent gunsmith look at it and give you his best advice.

I have a 511 made in 1955 and the top of the receiver is grooved for scope mounting.
